June 2019: Cask halfpint at The Townhouse, Ely. Served a bit too warm. Deep golden colour, white head. Moderate malty aroma, a hint of diacetyl. Malty flavour, but fairly dry, some bittering hops, but no fruitiness. A hint of diacetyl. Appears rather dull. I expect more from Kelham Island.

Thanks to Gavin for providing the bottle!
Pours a sun-yellow color, with a small white head, leaving back a small lacing, covering the whole surface of the beer.
Offers a great mix of herbacious, leafy hops and caramelized, slightly earthen malts. Its malt foundation grows more prominent than the hops are, turning a tad sweeter, with a balancing earthiness to it.
Has a lower carbonation, together with an enjoyable light body. The malts shine in this without any distraction from metallic, coppery carbonation flaws, gently balanced by the hops.
Tastes of hay, wheat, white bread and bready, soft malts. A fair amount of grassy, slightly herbal hops add to this convincing foundation, creating a very clean taste. During the finish, the hops turn stronger, revealing an enjoyable bitterness, which lets the malts rotate in an even earthier direction, with a subtle toffee note cutting through.
Very tasty sessionable beer, whichs key player are the malts. Those feature a nice sweetness, which gets wrapped up by english hops and unusual, wood bark inspired earthiness. Almost exhibits a spiced peak, as the bitterness becomes more pronounced.

Coming in a 500ml brown bottle, filtered. BB , served cool in a straight imperial pint glass.
A: bright tawny colour, coming with a pillowy off-white beer head with good retention and moderate carbonation.
S: sweet honeyish and grainy malts backed by a lightly floral and faintly orangey hoppyness in the background. Simple
T: dryish and herbal bitter hops manifest from the very beginning, with a wave of bitterness intensifying slowly but surely towards a clean and hoppy finish. The malty body remains the secondary theme throughout the drink, helping strike a balance with the bitter hoppyness skilfully.
M&D: softly carbonated, medium bodied and showing a balance b/w malts and hops. The clean finish and hop bitterness that lingers makes it a thirst-quenching bitter. Recommended!
