Taste: sweet malty brown sugar, bready, easy finish. Same with the nose but milder. Copper hue, mostly clear, with tan head and some lace. Medium body.

1 litre brown plastic bottle with screw-top filled at Alynas in Vilnius, Lithuania. (In Lithuania they have what are essentially growler fills, except these 1 litre bottles fit snugly into a unique component of the draught mechanism so the fill is even better). 5.90% ABV. Reviewed live. Expectations are above average.

Served cold, into an Utenos pilsner glass. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

HEAD: 1 finger wide. Off-white colour. Not real creamy or thick. Fairly frothy. Average complexion and consistency. No lacing sticks to the sides of the glass as the head recedes. Head retention is subpar - about 1.5 minutes.

BODY: Colour is a dark amber. Has a faint glow to it, but it isn't vibrant. No yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible.

Appears undercarbonated. Overall, it's not unique or special. I can't say it's a good looking beer for this style.

AROMA: Caramalt, malt syrup/extract, and amber malts. I'm not picking up on much. It's an inoffensive aroma of below average strength.

No yeast, hops, or alcohol is/are detectable.

TASTE: Amber malts, syrupy malt extract, and some herbal notes. Sassafras, maybe? Caramel. Unrefined syrups. It's not as herbal as would be ideal, and there isn't much going on. Rather simple and plain - even insipid.

TEXTURE: Syrupy, thick, smooth, wet, and hefty on the palate. Overcarbonated.

This texture is overbearing and detracts from the drinkability. Doesn't suit the flavour profile or style all that well.

OVERALL: It's an underwhelming brew with little to offer the discerning drinker. There just isn't much here in terms of flavour, and what little is present isn't all that enjoyable. I wouldn't buy it again, nor would I recommend it to friends. Finishing the litre will require some effort, and help from a friend. Insipid. Almost tastes like an extract homebrew from someone trying unsuccessfully to make a brown ale.

I tasted it both from can and bottle. It's not a gruit/herbed ale, but specialty/traditional ale, close to brown ales and winter warmers, but still original, brewed with caramel and wheat malts. Pours reddish-brown clear beer with normal 1-finger tan head. Truly complex aroma of dried fruits & caramel, sweet, nutty, oily. Delightful taste - rather sweet, treacle, toffee, nuts. Full body, low carbonation. Well, one of the best macrobrewery beers out there.
