Appearance: cloudy golden to straw color. Cakey smooth white and sticky head, with moderate levels of lace.

Smell: Earthy and wheaty. Maybe a tiny bit fruity...but a poor balance.

Taste: Kind of bland tasting. Has the major Hefe characteristics. Banana. A little spice, but nothing great.

Mouthfeel: Light body crisp but not too clean in the finish and a little too astringent/acidic/carbonated.

Drinkability: With all the hefes out there, I'd prefer to pick up one of them.

Appearance:Pours a hazy golden color with a billowy head. Lightly carbonated.

Aroma: Light, fresh wheat, citrusy background. Very appropriate for the style.

Taste: Taste is slightly metallic. Wheat is the dominant character. Might benefit from being chilled a bit longer than I did.

Mouthfeel: Light and scouring.

Drinkability: A decent representative of the style, worth seeking out to compare against American macrobrew hefes. Picked this up at Trader Joe's, a six-pack of large bottles (16oz.) went for only $5.99.

Appearance- Pours a slightly cloudy, straw with an a failry thick, pure white foamy head. Good retantion. No lacing whatsoever.

Aroma- Stong smell of a sour/wheat smell. Some malt nose. There's some other smell in there to that I can't describe. Wet cardboard?

Taste- Very wheaty. Get just a hint of that cardboard in the taste to, but not nearly as strong as the aroma. This is one of the wheatiest beers I've tried. The fore-taste is a bit citrusy. No clove, no banana.

Mouthfeel- Medium body with a decent level of carbonation. Has a very dry, puckering initial feel in the mouth tho, especially on the lips.

Drinkable, but there are much better Hefes out there.

Poured into a glass, excited at the thought of drinking a different wheat beer, I love them. Had a large lingering head. My wife brought it home as a surprise.

Has a very nice color, a little darker, only by a shade though, of what I usually expect in a wheat beer.

The apple definitely comes through in the smell, only a light hint of plum. A very nice mix to wheat beer wouldn't have expected it.

light and flimsy. Rolls off the tongue, carbonation isn't heavy.

I would definitely recommend it again. Slightly above average wheat beer and the $5.99 price tag for the 16oz bottle six pac gives it the edge.

Like a review before got this at Trader Joes today for $5.99. Couldnt pass it up even if it was no good.
I was suprised and happy with the choice after a few drinks.
Its head was very impressive large white and frothy that laced pretty well and lasted till the last sip. Slightly cloudy with a straw color.
Smell was very much banana like with some lite maltiness to it.
The flavor was rather mild. Banana flavor with a slightly spicy aftertaste. Nothing really stood out. But it was a good beer. It was a bit watery but overall pretty good. Not bad in type and for the price its very good.

The pour has a bit of witbier to it. The color is a cloudy, dare I say, electric straw. The nose is clean and almost entirely dominated by wheat. A mild banana flavor compliments the wheat in the taste followed by a crisp, albeit light, hop finish. This brew could use a little more banana, but it's light, refreshing, and way better than the hefe's most American breweries churn out.

From a 500ml.green glass bottle, pours a cloudy, yellow-gold brew, with an inch of thick, pure white foamy head. Good carbonation and plenty of lace to the finish.

Grainy malt nose with wheat making itself ever so present. While the label suggests it has subtle hints of apple and plum, other than wheat, all I detect is a hint of bologna, seriously. I don't know of anything else that describes this odor, other than bologna...kind of strange.

Tasting reveals much of the same, like a bologna on wheat bread sandwich, with a bit of grated lemon peel. The finish is mildly tangy, then fades quite clean...interesting, yet refreshing.

Medium plus in body with a bubble-cream mouthfeel, mild ABV is very well hidden. Drinkable, but there are better Weisse beers that I much prefer.

Purchased this single green bottle from the local Trader Joe's. Not the best time of year for a hefeweizen, but was looking for something a bit light to start off my Friday night.

Ekstra Weisse pours a hazy, yellowish color with a decent sized fizzy white head. It is opaque, with little notable bubble action. Overall I would have to say it looks a bit watery.

Smells like wheat, banana and orange. There is also a bit of spice present. Not too bad on the whole.

Taste is similar to the smell. Traditional hefe, with banana aftertaste--which is a bit weak though. A bit more watery than one would hope. Also there is a bit of spicy sharpness present--tastes somewhat peppery.

In the mouth, the beer is watery and a bit sharp. Spicy on the tongue.

Overall I would say that this is an extremely average hefe weizen. Not too bad for the price, but there are much better representations of the style available.

Bought from Trader Joe's -- served out of a glass bottle. The beer poured slightly lighter than some other wheat beers, but still had a cloudy, straw color. A little light, but very pretty. The bright white head didn't last as long as I'm used to with this style, but it was very pretty while it stayed there. The smell is similar to other beers in the same category -- bananna and citrus, but lacked some of the fullness that I'm used to. It seems to be more heavy on a sour smell without much body. The same thing carries through to the taste -- traditional hefe weizen flavors, but without the body that some of the better ones have . There is also a bit of yeast bite at the finish. Mouthfeel is similar to other hefe weizens -- light on the palate, but the use of wheat makes it heavier than the color indicates. Despite the sharp yeast flavor, this beer is pretty drinkable; maybe more so than other hefe weizens. Overall, a solid beer, but there are better examples of the category out there.

Possibly the same as "Kvietinis Natural Wheat Beer (Weissbier)" and just repackaged for the US...

White-ish yellow straw with a full pillowy creamy white head and great carbonation. Big fruity yeasty banana aroma and flavor with nice wheat grains in the background. Medium bodied and smooth despite the high carbonation level. Very refreshing !

Another excellent bargain from Trader Joe's.

Label states: "Anno 1786" & "Traditional ALUS Baltas"
