From their website: This beer is 5,1 % volume. Due to high technology the beer does not require artificial carbonisation - it is enough to preserve naturally formed carbonic acid during the fermentation. The technologically processed and optimal chemical composition water is used for production of this beer.
The world experts described LEDO as "medium golden color. Warm buttered toast, earthy hop aromas. A crisp entry leads to a dryish medium-bodied palate with honey toasted and fairly grainy pale malt and golden raisin flavors. Finishes with a crisply astringent, fruity sweet citrus and wet reed fade. Quite refreshing".
Award: "World Beer Championship 2005" - Gold Medal
For whatever that's worth... ...
Fairly average, golden hoppy lager... a well-made European pale lager... not a pilsner, not a German-style helles, kind of in-between. It's designated as "alus" though, and may or may not be an ale - I'm not sure and I don't care, but it's very clean and more along the lines of a lager. There's lots of grassy hops in the nose and flavor... and there's a touch more floral and herbal character in the flavor. It was in a green bottle but came out of a sealed case so there was no skunking. Clean, crisp, nicely balanced, just a touch of alcohol. The carbonation lightly bristles the tongue. Bitterness is at around 40 IBU's. The malt is nicely grainy in character, although it seems as if there's some adjunct in use... it has a mild sugary edge, and some alcohol is apparent - and I guess that does give it a kind of fruity/citrusy/white raisin kind of character as described above. I was initially surprised that it had won a medal, but then I realized that it was the "World Beer Championship" and not the more prestigious "World Beer Cup". I enjoyed it and I'd buy another one; and if my recall is correct, this brewery is now putting out better beers.
