Pours a deep gold with a white head that hangs around for a good long time. Aroma of citric hops over a toasty malt background. Mmm.
Another very well balanced brew - hops (mostly Cascades? Certainly a grapefruity variety) are nicely strewn about from aroma to flavor to a solid yet not overly aggressive bitterness, joined with a toasty maltiness. Finishes slightly more bitter, but the malt's still hanging around. Very full, enjoyable mouthfeel - this brewery does a good job with this aspect IMO. I could have a few of these. I appreciate this beer for its lack of over-the-top hop aggression: very drinkable for it.
Many thanks to BA John for the beer!

This is a damn good beer if I do say so myself. Poured a copper orange color with a nice frothy white head on top and some good lacing stuck to the sides in ring like patterns down the glass, which reminded me of layers in rock beds. Smell was wonderfully hoppy, but not at all overboard. Almost just a really hoppy pale ale with much more of an aroma hop flavor rather than the bittering effect and the same could be said for the taste. Nice and properly citrusy with a good hop bite, and just a slight hint of toasty biscuity like malts. Dean Jones says he doesn't like hoppy beers, but he should sure as hell stick with this one.

Bru's IPA is a treat--very hoppy and thick. It pours a musty orange amber with a thin head and just a smidgeon of lacing. The aroma of hops dominates with a backdrop of spruce and light lemon esters. The taste is pure IPA: excellently distinct, but not overwhelming, hops that carress the palate and fade gently to a slightly sweet pine finish. The mouthfeel was thick, but not syrupy. I met Bru's brewmaster, Dean, a very genial and upbeat guy, and I was surprised when he said he was not so much of a hop guy (I am) because he makes a great IPA.

I shared this beer with a friend, taking just enough to review it off of. The appearance of this beer is great. It was totally opaque. It had a wonderful murky, cloudy appearance, with a dull brown apricot color. I havent seen a beer this murky in a long time. The look affected the taste none though. Smell was very hoppy, with the typical grapefruity citrus, and malts and a floral scent crept in afterwards. Taste was quite straightforward. Quite tart, with a nice big helping of hops in each mouthful. Again the grapefruit was present. The beer had a good body, with a light carbonation. After talking with Dean, the brewer, briefly, we found that he in fact was not a big fan of the IPAs or hoppy beers, but had heard from many that his IPA was in fact quite good. Interesting to find such a great IPA from a brewer that in fact doesnt even like it.
