It's a caramel color beer, considering it's origins, and it's roots. It's a value beer. It doesn't have a strong smell, the usual color of a bock, no real strong head.
It tastes smooth and slightly bitter, it's a fully bodied beer, the aftertaste isn't bad. It has a good mouthful.
I recommend lime and sea salt if you're pouring a 2 pint mug like I do. It brings out the best in this Guatemalan beer.
I enjoy central American beers, but they on average are too light unless you go with Modelo Negra or Dos Equis Amber. The body of a beer is just as important as flavor and mouthful for me.
The price? 10.99 for 15 cans... hard to beat for an amber/bock style beer with 5.3 ABV..

Picked up a 15 pak for a song $11 at Winn Dixie. Popping the top I get a waft of molasses and malt. Pours to a deep root beer with no head. Taste is nice thick body good carbonation kind of syrupy and semi sweet. Notes of molasses and charred malt, noble hops. A very nice smooth drinker. Reminds me of a Club Colombia Negra but sweeter. Found a Guat gem.

Well, not sure how to rate beer but you know very good to excellent beer when you taste it. I keep the beer in my mouth for about 20=30 seconds. If I can't tolerate the taste I swallow or spit out and move on. As for Monte Carlo Bock, I think it has more body and a little less bubbles than Amber bock. Amber bock on draft is a very good low cost every day beer which I enjoy. So Monte Carl Bock is was/is a pleasant surprise especially at 10 bucks for 12 I'm going to get more of this good brew.

This has become my favorite beer. I buy a 15-pack about once a week.
I like to squeeze a slice of lime into a glass, pour the beer in, and sprinkle a little salt on top. I do this with most beers after observing a friend drinking her Coronas at Sunday brunch.
I enjoy Monte Carlo Bock more than Corona. The flavor is more robust.
Try it!

Nice dark carmel color with taste of malt. Goes down smoothly with a little aftertaste. I bought a 12-pack of 12oz bottles at Winn-Dixie for about $10. It's a good dark ale for the price. Not quite as good as Smithwicks, but rivals Shinerbock for half the price. I will buy it again.

Decent, balanced beer, which is not great but is superior to other beers from Guatemala.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a very dark brown color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, a bit of malts. Taste is weak, some malts, touch of caramel, a bit of an unusual aftertaste. Feels light in the mouth and overall is a below average beer.

Monte Carlo Bock
12 oz. brown glass bottle
Notes: Clear dark mahogany body beneath a rocky head of light tan that drops shortly. Limited lacing. Limited dark caramel in the nose over subtle, dull, background hops. Medium light in body with a standard carbonation. Crisp. The flavor reveals a bit more "malt" character, but not much. I'm thinking that this is just the Monte Carlo Lager with a product like "Porterine" added to give it color and a hint of caramel flavor. Moderately bitter. Short lingering finish. Lackluster. Not the best production quality either.
