Comes in the standard brown half-liter Alternmünster swing-top bottle with a label only on the neck and the trademark engraved on the glass. Purity law applies. Best before 5/18/04, I opened it on 1/10/04.
Pours a slightly cloudy copper under a tan tan head that musters 1.5 fingers but fades too quickly, leaving just a collar and no lace. The nose is nice, with lots of wheat and spice. The mouth is prickly and heavy with a slight sour tone. The taste is OK, caramel and spice, but the touch of sour carries over, leaving an unpleasant impression. There is lots of caramel in the finish, but no hops. The aftertaste is sweet. This is an interesting brew, but far from a great one.
