Not as much smoke as some others that I've tried, but perhaps subltety is one of the things this beer has going for it. Sweetened lemon iced tea is perhaps the best beverage that I can compare this beer to. They are both the same colour (murkey brown with yellow hints), and both have lemon and tannic tea qualities. I quite enjoyed drinking this dispite all of the somewhat unusual flavors going on.

Comes in a heavy brown half-liter bottle with a swing top and a brown label around the long thin neck only. Purity law applies. Best before 4/14/04, I opened it on 2/14/04.
Poured a clear light amber under a light tan one finger head with good retention (despite its thin texture) and a fair amount of lacing. The nose is lightly smoked, with a touch of sweetness. The mouth is light and fairly prickly. The flavor was smooth and very mildly smokey, with a touch of caramel. A slight hoppy bitterness contests well wiht the smokey malt. A good mild beef jerky like smokey aftertaste made me want more. Unlike a lot of the other smoked beers, which I find overpowering (pour beer in ash tray, then drink), I found this one very pleasant.
