Half liter vom fass at the Biergarten next to the DB/long distance train platform near the Stuttgart Hbf. I was excited to see something other than Stuttgarter Hofbrau, as this was the specialty of the month. But, sadly, this was pretty mediocre. Especially considering it’s one of my favorite styles lately. It’s tasty and easy drinking with some of the flavors and feel you expect from a Dunkel, but it’s just average.

Shared 500 ml swingtop bottle at local tasting, from Getränke Hoffmann, Harrislee. Dark ruby colour, off-white to beige head. The aroma has a slight acidity, and is otherwise malty and nutty with hints of slightly burnt breadcrumbs and caramel. Medium sweet flavour with notes of caramel and brown bread.
