I found this single 500ml brown bottle at the Binny's store in Plainfield, IL for $1.49. No freshness date or anything about the beer on either the front or back labels.

The beer poured a slightly hazed golden/orange color, but I couldn't coax more than a ½ finger of fizzy white head out of it even with a hard pour. The head lasted about a minute before fading to a thin rim and it left just minimal lacing on the glass.

The smell was very pilsener-ish - with a touch of pale malt mixed in with mild floral and grassy hops.

This is a nice tasting pilsener. Good balance between the pale malts and the noble hops. Not too bitter and not too sweet. I also got a faint cantaloupe melon flavor, which I liked.

The body is light to medium, crisp and refreshing, with medium carbonation. A slight but pleasant bitterness in the finish.

Very easy to drink with no bad flavors or any trace of alcohol.

A golden colored beer with a thin head.

Smell is hoppy with a slight resinous smell. A slight sulfuric smell.

Taste is bitter and has a nice resinous hoppy taste. The yeast adds a slight sulfuric taste, a typical German taste. Drinkability is good.

500 mL bottle from Hi-Time in Costa Mesa. Pours cloudy yellow with a smaller white head with some larger groups of bubbles, fairly tight head and a few branches of lace. The aroma is full of grainy malts, white chocolate, and a bit of nose tickling hops, but hardly much. Mild grassy/herbal hops and an easy light malt flavor make this one simple but relatively flawless in execution. The hops could be kicked up a notch for sure (maybe this bottle is old, I would not know as there is no date and that is on the brewer). A bit sweet/malty for a pils but still crisp and tasty. Medium bodied with a moderated carbonation, not too prickly, lets the malt come through. Easy drinking, tasty, no problems here, but devoid of much character. This is almost like a wheat beer even.

500 ml bottle.

Pours a pale straw color with a thick, tightly foamed brite white head that is a finger thick and lasts forever at 1 inch thick. It literally doesn't recede. Tiny bubbles race towards the top of this crystal clear beer.

Theres a good malt/hop balance, it smells typical of the style with pale malts and slightly herbal hops. Perhaps a bit sweeter smelling than most.

The taste follows the smell, perhaps a bit more bitter than expected, slightly watery.

It is starkly average for a German pils, though above most american versions.

On tap at Gourmet Haus Staudt.

Pours a clear golden color with a small white head.

Aroma is pretty typical for a pilsner: pale malt, grain, and grassy hops.

Flavor is also somewhat standard for the style, not exciting but well-done. Pale malt, grain, and grassy hops, maybe a little lemon peel.

Medium-light bodied, fairly crisp.

Drinkable if nothing else. A good but not great example of the style.

On-tap at Hollingshead's in a half-liter mug. On to the beer:

This one has a pale yellow straw color to it, with a little bit of head retention, but almost no lacing. Grassy with a little m=poale malt in the aroma. Taste is very floral, almost seltzer-like at first, with a light base of pale malt that can be tasted. During the second half of drinking the beer, a little more malt creeps out, though it's still very floral tasting. Buzzy in the mouth for the most part, though it does cool down some as time progresses. Easy enough to drink.

A drinkable lager is what you'll get here. Decent overall, but one can do better with German lager.

Pours a slightly hazey dark yellow with a fast head and good bubbling. Crisp malt in the nose with a little melon juice and earthy hops. Clean ad earthy hops mix with crisp malts and just a touch of dry melony fruit. This is a tastey and super drinkable pilsner.

mmm, you know, it's not bad, just not especially good. Got this bottle at Sam's in Chi. Poured with a fizzy white head that quickly subsided; no lace. Color is a pale, very slightly hazy yellow. Aroma is grainy and hoppy. Flavors 'bout the same. Little more pronounced bitterness. Body's ok. Kind of a generic German Pils. Finish is more bitter than sweet, but not bad.

Nice, refreshing beer from a German brewer whom I'm becoming more fond of with each product try.

Appearance: very pale golden color; nice carbonation
Smell: Good 'ole floral Bavarian hops, and some light grassy notes
Taste: Quality bready barley yields a nice round sweetness to this beer, but there is a bit of an understated hop bitterness too. Guessing good Alpine water had a pretty good bargain into the deal, as well.
Mouthfeel: Very clean, and quite well-balanced from start to finish. Maybe finishes just a tad watery, albeit just. No real complaints.
Drinkability: It's an odd occurance when I rate a beer's drinkability higher than all other categories, but in the case of Teutsch Pils, it's really more than the sum of its parts.

This is a fantastic beer to quench one's thirst while reaping the benefits of par excellence Bavarian brewing techniques. Plus, it's an easy sessionable beer. I'd like to find myself in an Alpine biergarten serving masskrugs of this pils. Himmel an der Erde!

pours clear gold with a 2 finger white head that leaves spotted lacing

smell is faint mostly grains

taste is water flavored beer - still better then american macros but watery thin grains with tad bit of grassy hops

mouthfeel is water with a little caronation

drinkability is one and done - i dont have the funds to to give every beer a second chance and this made a very bad 1st impression

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ,

A: Pours a clear yellow, with a medium white head with good retention and lacing.

S: Pretty standard pils, a little hoppier than average.

T: Bready malt, and some pastry batter. Noble hops give a light grassy character, good balance to the brew.

M: Soft mouthfeel, a bit chalky at times. Overall good, light-bodied, smooth, rather dry.

D: Quite a good German pilsner here, I'm glad I got to try it fresh on-tap.

17 oz bottle picked up over the weekend at Tres Bonne Cuisine for $3.25... poured into my small weizen glass.

Nice Chunky 2 finger head... crystal clear straw colored brew.

Husky pale malts with a touch of sweetness followed by a slightly floral/more spicy hop aroma.

Flavor is basically the same as the nose but with a descent balanced hop bitterness... fairly dry finish but the subtle bitterness lingers through the palate adding well to the drinkablity.

I am really glad I finally too the time to search out TBC... a jewel for sure in Boise... I can't wait until I work my way through their German and Czech beers and get to their assortment of Baltic Porters.

bought this beer at one of my local Oktoberfests....which sucked by the way...
anyways on to the review...it poured real light straw color with decent head retention...

smells like a pilsner...not a great one at that light hop aroma...ehh

taste: this is where it dropped super watery tasting and does not come through with the hop flavor that was alluded to with the aroma..and finishes flat as Nicole richies chest when she was super thin!

mouthfeel:actually really creamy not bad at all

drinkablitity...well I guess if you were playing beer pong and did not know anything about beer....and ask for a light beer where ever you go...this might be the choice for you! actually no it kinda sucks

poured into a tulip that formed a nice frothy head and there is actually decent retention and stickyness. Straw/hay color and smell

Overall this wasn't a beer for me. A basic wheat type taste with little more. mouthfeel was watery and slick with moderate carbonation. slight charcoal/burnt flavor in the aftertaste. I have to admit the presentation is solid for a pils, and the low price is what caught my eye.

Presentation: One of a handful of brews that I picked up from Allgäuer Brauhaus on a recent beer trip. The Teutsch Pils, like the earlier 1394 Premium Lager, has a white background main label; however the neck label is a full sized V-shaped profiled golden foil affair which covers the simple brass crown cap, a detour from the norm as all the Allgäuer Brauhaus biers have printed colored caps. Looks like the picture in the BA Database. My sample arrived in a 1 Pint 0.9 fluid ounce standard tall looking brown glass bottle. No reverse label on this one [usually added for the US market] and as such there is no listed strength or any Freshness Date for that matter.

Appearance: Pale but clear light straw colored Euro-Lager body. The ubiquitous white Teutonic head forms during the initial pour but has some decent staying power this time around albeit at ¼” thick. Nice levels of streaming carbonation punctuate the body at all times, which turn the brew milky with dissolved gases when the Pils is swirled.

Nose: Fresh nose, clean cut lawns and grass stains the herbal aromas. Pilsner malts and a light biscuit feel in the back end. Has a sharp aspect which is citric in nature.

Taste: Grainy start, pilsner malts that are a little sweet but these are balanced by mild hops and freshly cut grass feel that mixes with a clean sweeping citric sharpness that gives the back end of the brew a defined ending and borders. Short finish, a bit too short, but that just makes you eager to get another mouthful though.

Mouthfeel: The carbonation supports the Pils perfectly; nice pilsner malts and a grainy feel that progresses into a grassy finish. A splash of lemon sharpness grabs the cheeks just before the swallow.

Drinkability: Solid drinking Pilsner, you could easily pound this one all day without much effort, it would probably result in a funny accent afterwards though, ivf you no vot I mean.

Overall: Very clean and crisp Teutonic Pils. Nothing outstanding but a solid above average offering from the Fatherland.

Pours a hazy yellow brew.

Smell is mostly toasted grain and yeast, and a bit of malt.

Taste is sweet with a caramel flavor. Has a whiskey flavor to this, Canadian whisky to be exact. Yep a caramelized corn flavor, weird but not bad.

Mouthfeel is OK.

OK drinkable but not a first choice. I keep second guessing my tastebuds but that whiskey flavor is defiantly there.
