Appearance:
This winter seasonal poured very still with little to no head, even upon agitation. Color is a deep black with a hint of red.
Smell:
The nose says it all: this is going to be one sweet beer. Lactose aroma is present, as are faint whiffs of chocolate.
Taste/Mouthfeel:
This is good, but not great. Has all of the characteristics of a milk stout (smooth, somewhat sweet), but it seems to be missing something. This is highly enjoyable, and drinkable, just nothing exceptional.

A very dark brew. It definitely looked to be a true black in the glass. I did not get any head out of this brew. As I swirled a bit, a nice tan foam would come up for a bit, but nothing impressive. A nice roasty smell of coffee and chocolate.
Very smooth brew with almost no carbonation. The flavor is simple yet satisfying. It is like a chocolate coffee coolata loaded with more flavor. It is very creamy. I have to say that it very much seemed like a bubbly flavored milk. It was a great drinking beer, and went well with the style. I could see this brew turningpeople on to stouts. It is really nothing special, but I could drink it all the time.

Can you say dark? This sucka is almost a black hole, with just the slightest hint of mahogany trying to come forth! A hard-pour gave it a creamy, tan head, yet it dissipated rather quickly, with only a bit of it sticking in the glass. There was a residual sweetness in combo with a decent roastiness in the nose. I just wish it were somewhat stronger. Though it has a minimal carbonation, making it fairly smooth, the body is somewhat lacking and a tad thin. Taste, too, has a good roastiness, a hint of dark chocolate, and an underlying, mild sweetness. All in all, a pleasing, easy-quaffing bier. Cheers!

A deep black body, topped with a dark brown head that subsides quickly. Dark ruby color when held to the light. Not as complex as most normal stouts, the aroma and taste are Johnny-One-Note, dark roasted malt, tempered by the lactose sweetness and just a whisper of chocolate. Smooth, mellow finish, and a thin watery mouthfeel. Forget Schaefer, this one's the one to have when you're having more than one. In other words, a good session stout...
