I bought this bottle straight from the brewery so it’s supposed to be fresh. Nevertheless, it smells like a box of matches (?) to me - and to be honest, it also tastes that way. Not sure what kind of hops they used and how but it somehow feels stingy... I’m not really able to grasp what’s wrong with the beer but although it almost feels okay, it does not at the same time. It ends up being okay with food that takes the strange taste away. Still it is a far cry from a proper pale ale, sorry but Sierra set the standard high...

Still brewed and available for purchase (at least in Kyushu). Has a somewhat odd aftertaste reminiscent of distilled liquor, shochu in particular. But still drinkable.
