Poured a darkish orange/amber with a full finger white head that lasts a long time and leaves a sticky lacing in it's wake.
Aroma is mildly amber malt.
Taste is a toasty amber malt with a slight hop bite on the end.
Mouthfeel is adequate for an amber and aftertaste is clean.
Much, MUCH better than this brewers Pale Ale, this one actually does a decent job of hitting the style.

Sampled from a 12oz bottle.... unsure where I got this, or who may have given it to me. Was in my fridge for a bit... Says "prime lagered" on the label.... ohhh-kaaay....
Pours a clear copper/amber color, with a few fine carbo bubbles taking their time hitting the surface. Head is thin and off-white, enough to cover the liquid and a rim job, with light lacing at best. Aroma is mild, with a little caramel and hints of nuts. Perhaps a suggestion of floral hopping... Body was on the lesser side of medium, with some prickliness on the tongue. Not real rough, but nowhere near smooth.
Flavor has some mild sweetness, and with a touch of caramel here, too. Almosts borders on butterscotch. And that's the good part. Floral hops make a play but with a distinct, off-putting bitter aftertaste. Not much here at all to write home about. Had trouble finishing this one... and I'm probably being kind with my numbers..

Highs: Decent bargain ale
Lows: Nose
Nice amber brown pour capped by a one-finger tan/white head that fades away fairly quickly, leaving a pretty good sheet of lacing. Really not much going on with the nose. Maybe some malt, maybe some hops. Initial flavor is bitter and ale-like, pretty good and honestly better than I expected. Still a bit too malty sweet for my taste, though. Maybe a bit of alcohol toward the end. Mouth is watery, though not especially bubblyjust OK. Drinkability is pretty average.
Overall: Not a bad bargain ale, better than many for the price, though still several cuts below the top.

found some in my grandmothers fridge. after reading these reviews i was reluctant to try one but of course i eventually did. not at all as bad as i was expecting! smelled and tasted almost belgian-ish to me, to my surprise. the flavor was much thinner and not as well mixed. little to no bitterness, slight malt presence. pretty weak alcohol wise(i think) but not all bad. i wouldnt buy these, but if theres some around you probably wont regret popping one open.

I bought this beer only to see what it was like. I knew that it was a grocery store "micro" but I had to give it a try. My verdict? Meh...
The beer pours an undeniable amber...so that passes the test! Other than that, there's very little to appreciate. The head was miniscule. the carbonation was nothing to brag about.
The aroma was quite subdued. It smelled sweet, like a good amber should, but I detected very little else.
The flavor was the most disappointing of all...go figure. This is a very watery beer with some malty aspect of an amber with too little hops to give this a rounded character.

Wow, this is pretty bad stuff. I guess that is what I should expect from a fake, supermarket microbrew. Appearance is actually a nice copper with little to no head. Carbonation is almost non-existant. Smell is clean with a touch of sweetness. Taste is where this beer goes bad. Sip starts off with a rush of sickly sweetness which lingers and isn't aided by other flavors. Hops are needed to give this beer this beer some semblance of balance. The sweetness tastes actificial and cloys badly. This is finishable, but falls into the "never again" category.

Smell is sweet and malty and a bit fruity, no hops smelled. The scent is similar to "Alaskan Amber" an Alt Bier.
Taste is drier than expected from the smell. The malt flavor is up from and a fruity banana flavor follows it. The initial flavor is quite good but then it dies without any noticeable finish to it. Very minimal amount of hops to this.
Mouthfeel isn't too strong.
A drinkable brew but nothing special. This could be a great deal better with enough hops to give it a better finish and a more complex flavor.

Pours a reddish amber color with a tall creamy off white colored head that fades into a heavy and sticky lace. Nose is sweet malts blended with fruity caramel. Light to medium in body with a soft carbonation. Taste is lightly toasted malts and some fruity notes followed by an iced tea flavor. This is the third Hidden River beer Ive sampled and the third time Ive been under-whelmed.

Aroma: Consists of lightly toasted malt and light caramel notes.
Taste: Begins with earthy malt notes with caramel overtones; a lingering metallic bitterness appears at the finish.
Mouth feel: Smooth, decently full, with a bit of stinging carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: Overall, this is very mediocre amber ale. In writing this review, I have struggled to be objective. However, this beer seems terrible when compared to Fat Tire or Full Sail Amber Ale, both of which are superb examples of the Amber Ale style.
By the way, take a look at the label art - it features a moose that looks like he's about to hurl. I'm sure this depiction is meant to depict the moose in the act of calling, but it is tempting to assume that he has just tried this beer.
Presentation: Packaged in a twelve ounce brown glass longneck with a twist off crown, served in a standard pint tap glass.

Another find at Albertson's in Huntington Beach. Orange color with a thin and quickly dissipating head. Very thin lacing. Pungent malty aroma. Slightly malty flavor with a sour finish. Very poor attempt at an Amber. I have to wonder how the quality of this beer changed after being absorbed under the Gluek umbrella.
