This is a good barleywine overall but not outstanding. I had a bottle that I had aged about one year.
Red copper, it has a small pale tan head soon thinning to a foamy ring.
Aroma is caramelised barley and orange, the citrusy-orangey hop giving a definite "American" quality to what otherwise seems to be a somewhat English-leaning barleywine, too the extent that one can really draw clear distinctions between the two.
Taste is some light spicy bitterness, spicy raisiny barley, candied burnt orange, hint of pine bark. It's very good but on the simple side, a bit one-dimensional, and with a touch of roughness.
