The colour is deep amber; the finger thick head is pale beige. Lots of lacing.
The smell is sweet and quite weak. Nuts. Some lightly smoked notes. An interesting fruity flavour of cherry jam.
The taste is strong and malty with some sweet flavours. A potent bitter flavour passes quickly. Some roasted and matured notes and a touch of fruit flavoured candy and candied apples. The aftertaste is matured and balanced with some malty sweetness, sweet almonds and medium strong bitterness. The alcohol is well hidden.
The carbonation is quite strong. The liquid is smooth and a little dry.
A robust ale with lots of flavours. Maybe a little too much for a "spring ale".
