A tiny corner store with street parking. Busy intersection. Very good service with smiling people, small but good selection and fairly diverse variety of domestic, local craft and a few import beers. Competitive prices. This neighborhood has changed a bit in the past 5 years and has been built up with big apt buildings and old warehouses refurbished. It makes Sharrett's even more unique and quaint and kind of a throwback to "the good old days". Can be slightly busy at times. They have a decent selection of liquor and wine as well. Older interior, lots of signage with stacks of product where space allows. Has a combo of wall fridges and old soda pop fridges. There's a cool record store a few doors up Raymond where you can walk around with a beer and not get hassled. Sharrett's is kind of historic as far as University Ave beer history goes. It also has delivery service and helps with catering and such. You'll find something there you like for sure.

Pretty decent selection of local beer, though there's still a decent chunk missing. Just not enough room to fit in many regional/national offerings. No mix-and-match 6 pack option - just the original packaging. A very decent neighborhood shop, perfect for picking up your favorite local stuff.

I used to live about a half mile from this place, so I have been their more than a couple of times. For such a small place, they actually have a decent selection. It's not the biggest, but they get more than a couple good beers, and good seasonals. The staff their is great, they are quick to recognize you, and they always have the Twins games on the radio and will shoot the breeze with you. They focus more on six packs than anything, their selection of pint bottles and such is a little weak. This place isn't worth a special trip, but stop by if you are in the neighborhood.

Located on the traffic heavy corner of University and Raymond sits this little corner apartment sized liquor store called Sharrett's. The man who runs this place is a hoot. He dilerabtely goes out of his way to give you the weirdest change like 50 cent coins and $2 bills. And he likes to talk about the local beer scene, oh how he misses the old Summit being down the street not far from his nose. Not to mention he likes to keep what little shelves he has well stocked with imports and whatever micro goodies he can get a hold of.
The selection here is good, if not outstanding given the room and location. From outside it looks run down and old with an almost ghetto-like isolation; once inside, a dull and stuffy air insues upon the senses. Cases of beer and wines strewn about on the floor. First thing grabbing my eye was the assortment of cased Lakefront beers. Other then that no real surprises amongst the selection, although its surprising to see the wide selection for such a small place. The shelves have no continuity to them, beers from all over the world kinda placed where ever there may be room. Found one gem in the cooler next to the SN stuff, a sixer of 2003 Anchor OSA. Has a good selection of imports from England, Germany, and Belgium with a few other countries to boot with Czech brews, Unibroue, and Tusker too, pretty standand for any decent liquor store, which this place is. I've seen less selection at some chain liquor stores around town so this was a pleasant surprise. Local goodies of Schell's, Summit, and James Page are well stocked as well as Leinie's, some other wider marco/micros of Bell's, Victory, Anchor, Sierra Nevada, a few others with Allagash being one that I almost purchased. There's a build your own six pack - 10% off deal, but you have to look hard and wide to find anything, the empty sixer holders took about 5 minutes to locate. An eclectic feel to this place for sure, like an antique dealers midroom storage. You'll also find a good assortment of wines, hard liquor, and even some good cigars here. So if in the area, this place will have something good for ya to get. Parking on the other hand is the only big hassle as it has to be on the very busy streets at a very busy intersection or in parking lots off the beaten path.

With only one truly worthy “destination” retailer in this town (Blue Max) it’s often very easy to overlook our many remarkable neighborhood retailers - think Zipp’s, South Lyndale, Thomas Liquors, and Sharrett’s. While these other places have a personality and charm all their own, Sharrett’s has historically functioned as the best place in town to guage the overall health of the local specialty beer market. This assertion is a dubious one only when you forget their location, a stone's throw from Summit’s old location, the infamous "Johnny's Bar", and several of the area's key alcoholic beverage wholesalers. Theirs is probably the oldest store of it’s kind, retro by accident, but they’ve always done a tremendous job of maintaining a variety of value-priced beverage and snack items, tobacco products and ephemera, but it’s with their beer selection that they really shine. Even though Johnny’s and Summit are long gone from the area Sharrett’s has continued to cram as wide a selection (and as much beer as possible) into their space, and considering the size of the place that selection is remarkable. Prices here compare favorably with what you’ll find at the larger retailers/chains, and there’s always a great deal lurking around the corner (I once picked up a six of Bell’s Expedition for $9.99) for their regular shoppers to benefit from, and even though I no longer live in the neighborhood.their "Beers of the World" mix-your-own six pack [receive a 10% per item discount when choosing from around one hundred specialty singles, including imports (McEwan's), ciders, craftbrews (Bell's), N.A.s, and more] has never failed to keep me coming back.
