I feel sorry for beer lovers in Macon. I'm not the only one! When my girlfriend and I ended up here on our way back from Florida, we were greeted with only three beer selections. It was pretty bad timing (New Year's Day) but I expected at least something more to offer. I ordered something I think they called Texas Red, which wasn't that bad. The bartender was friendly and helpful, and explained that the lack of sophistication in the beer was because "you have to dumb it down for Macon."

Hopefully they will improve their selection in the future, but after speaking with some college age kids in the bar, it sounded like there wasn't anything fancier than Bass Ale in town. And again to our detriment, the only bar downtown that reportedly had a selection of beer was closed that Saturday, January 1st.

Hope someone else has better luck in Macon.
