Red brown color. Small head. Aroma is malty and slightly sweet. Medium bodied red ale. Malts are slightly sweet, and a touch nutty. Hops are kind of mild and slightly citrusy. It a touch thin, but it has enough flavor to make it drinkable. Mouthfeel is a little thin. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Originally brewed in the Napa Valley, this beer ironically has a bit of a winey character to it although it's now brewed by St. Stan's. It pours a hazy, brilliant orange body with a crimson cast. Streams of fine bubbles can be seen racing towards the surface, yet they do little to help maintain the quickly diminishing off-white head. Within moments it reduces to just a thin collar, and it leaves no lace. An apricot-like fruitiness and some background hops appear in the nose, but there's no noticeable maltiness. It's light bodied and somewhat zesty in the mouth with a gently effervescent carbonation. The flavor is thin; and it's fruity with a mild yeast tartness (not sour, but low pH) and some piney & ctrusy hop flavors balanced by a low-level bitterness that becomes more apparent as it lingers in the dry finish. An interesting and refreshing beer that's very English in its lighter body and flavor; but also utilizes American hops.
