Bottle acquire in trade with tiggmtl (thanks!).

Poured a darker brownish-amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of citrus (oranges), flowers, light pine, and caramel. Tastes of oranges, caramel, pepper, and lemon. Nicely balanced (starts off bitter and ends in a sweet note). I've been impressed with the Bieropholie's IPAs.

IPA avac gouts.
This IPA was very close to the other two beers I have tried from this brewery. Again a very nice beer, but Needs to a bit hoppier to be an IPA in my book. This beer has the bitterness and finish. Needs more hop flavor and aroma. Strong caramel aroma like the other beers. This brewery has a house flavor. Good beer

A winning IPA. Looks like a hoppy English IPA, and aroma of citrus like a USA. Very drinkable and some grapefruit mid-sip. Chewy on some cookie crumbs and lemon rind. Crisp refreshing not-too-dry aftertaste, not bitter. Wonderful with meat sub or most fish. Well-made balance. This brewery lives up to its reputation for quality and experimentation.

Appearance – This one was gorgeous. The head came up a full three inches on a mild pour and literally covered every spot on the inside of the glass with lacing. The beer itself is dark for an IPA with the promise of a nice malt balance.

Smell – Yes, the malts come out nicely here, making this one quite balanced. The hops are mild but very noticeable. This has the nose more of a balanced Pale Ale than an IPA.

Taste – Oh, does this go down well. It has a prominent flavor of dark, burnt toast type of malt, so don’t buy this thinking you’re getting a hoppy IPA. The hops that are there are maybe citrusy but, again, the malt is the dominant flavor.

Mouthfeel – This was the bier’s strong point, IMO. This one went down exceptionally smooth with a bitter burnt toast kind of finish. The sweet molasses just adds to the enjoyment. It’s a solid medium-bodied.

Drinkability – Certainly not on-style as we’d define an IPA here in Seattle, but a terrific beer nevertheless.

Comments – A greatly-appreciated big BA thanks to Rastacouere for sending me this all the way from Quebec. I really enjoyed sampling Bieropholie’s interpretation of the style.

Bottle: Poured an amber brew with a nice thick head with lasting retention. Aroma is sweet with some nice hops mix. Taste is quite dry and bitter but with a hint of sweetness that is very enjoyable. Overall, this is very good beer and a good example of the IPA style.

A very dark copper colour for an IPA, with a thick white head of foam. Aromas are very balanced and consist of fresh floral hops and chewy deep malts. The taste is good, but for an IPA it is sub-par. Although this may be the hoppiest beer being brewed in Quebec, this is more like an English IPA, not a hopped up west-coast version. The sweet malts play with the bitter hops, to creat an inevitably drinkable session IPA. The mouthfeel and drinkability are also both very good, as this is a very well balanced brew!

Deep amber, typical flowery cascade nose. IPAs are not favorites of mine, but this one sure didn't forget to rely on a deep malt profile (chewy sweet pine gum) to balance the big grapefruity piney hop profile and at the same time keeping it from being sour. Easily the hoppiest beer in Quebec at this point, medium-bodied and not too bitter. Bièropholie: A nice project is born...
