Now this is an alt!
Oak brown pour with ruby highlights and a light tan coloured head. Rich dark fruit aroma with brown sugar and an underlying breadiness. As a previous BA noted, it does have a hint of barleywine to it. Nicely malt driven flavour, but with some spicy hops to balance it out. I'm getting raisin, chocolate, coffee, earth, bread and nut. The alcohol is more apparent than it should be, and the beer would probably benefit from sitting for a while. Dry and smooth with a light carbonation and an impressive mouthfeel, this is another hit from Bieropholie.
Thanks to zorprime for the bottle.

Bottle shared courtesy of Bobsy, thanks for another great beer! Pours a light brown with a tan head that almost has slight glints of orange in the right light.
Nose is rich and unlike any other alt I've had. Raisins, caramel, toffee, and a hint of ethanol in there.
Taste follows right in step. A sherry like richness with raisins, toffee, caramel, bread, and a slight spiciness filling in the body. A touch of warming alcohol in the finish, almost drinks like an English Barleywine in some aspects. Not much of the Munich malt and Saaz hops presence I would expect from an alt.
This is a nice drinker and a nice surprise, even though I'm not sure how true to style it is. Definitely worth picking up and trying.

Picked this up from ZorPrime during CanBif '09, and just been waiting to try it.
Pouring into a glass results in a dark reddish brown. With plenty of bubbly white head. Head slowly dissipates until just a thin covering remains on top.
Smell is of a rich, sweet, spicy caramel malt. Alcohol scent is apparent. Less so than say.... a barley wine, but more so than a red or a brown ale.
My first impression of the taste is analogous to a dark rum and coke, which I definitely wasn't expecting. Taking more time to take in the flavors, there is certainly a sweetness to it, and hints of maybe dried fruit, plus a smoky quality.
There is definitely some carbonation to this, which further compares to a rum and coke. Sweetness of the drink stays in the mouth for a bit, but no other real aftertaste.
Drinkability is pretty much, once again, like a dark rum and coke (for me). I happen to enjoy a good dark rum and coke though, so I find it to be pretty drinkable.

Tasted on May 29th, 2009.
Appearance: Nice looking beer. Pours as a dark amber beer with heavy hazyness! The head is brownish/beige and stick to the glass.
Smell: Inviting smell of caramel malts. Some alcool in the nose. Nice smell.
Taste: The taste is malts first, then some bitterness and I taste the alcohol at the end. Very well balanced. The malts are not toasted, it is more a caramel malt taste... Nice.
Drinkability: Wow, quite easy to drink for the ABV. Nice one...
Not familiar with the style, this is my first time. Will need to investigate more to see if this is following the beer style.

Sipped this while watching CSI: Las Vegas last night.
Poured from a 341ml. bottle.
Appearance: Dark red, brown body with a nice thick head that clings to the glass.
Smell: Very nice aroma of raisins, dried fruit, plums, alcohol. A resin-like feel to it.
Taste: Some heat but well-balanced between malty & bitter. Dried fruit aspect, toffee with a lingering candy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, velvet-like feel. Dried raisins, some mild hop bitterness but definitely more on the malty side. Drinking this reminds me of an old dimly lit cellar with shelves of preserves (not a negative aspect at all but a comfortable winter image).
Drinkablity: A sipper for sure but easily drinkable and i'd have another for sure (not in the same sitting though).
Overall: First exposure to this style and i like it a lot. A great winter brew and one i would have again in a heartbeat. Loved it!

This one arrived by mail & pushed a little out the screw top. IT was still well-carbonated though.
A: Copper with an off-white head, minimal retention, no lacing.
S: Alcohol, nuts, dark fruit and a light spicing.
T: Nutty, biscuity-bread, dark fruit, alcohol, nice spicing, balanced bitterness, slight Bieropholie house character.
M: well-attenuated with slightly dry, alcohol finish.
D: Quite drinkable for its strength.
Thanks Phyl21ca!

Pleasant easy drnking alt found at Metro Joanette. The most recent in the Bieropholie series. Caramel smooth above-average mouthfeel. Some old ale barley aroma. Alcohol fuel drying finish hat is somehow a little astringent but drinkable.Decent for the style.

Bottle: Poured a clear deep brown color alt with a good size head with some good retention and some lacing. Aroma of deep caramel malt is very enticing. Taste is also dominated by some deep caramel malt with a lightly dry hoppy finish. Full body with great carbonation and the 7.1% of alcohol is very well hidden. Not a style that I am overly familiar with but I very much enjoyed this beer.
