This is a "Delaware" DeGroen's.
Clear medium gold, small white head. Some lacing, head falls to a sparse table. Mild nose of saaz hops and shows no light damage. The taste is clean and crispy with a nice bitter hit of hops. Long pils finish that is nice and dry. Would be a decent session brew. If you want an alternative for a party beer, give it a try.

poured a crystal-clear yellow color with moderate white head that rapidly fell to a thin ring. Smell is light and spicy, and very pleasant. Taste is crisp, with a nice bitterness making its presence known. Finishes with sweet maltiness and crisp hoppiness coming together to make a nice ending. A good example of the style with nice drinkability.

Pours with a one-finger white head that leaves a good lace. Clear pale amber color. Light bodied and light carbonation. Slightly hoppy nose. Starts hoppy and the finish is clean, dry and slightly hoppy. Lingering hoppy aftertaste. $1.65 for a 12oz. bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.

Tasted at DeGroen's on 6/6/06.
Appearance: Bright yellow gold with thick white head that faded pretty quick.
Smell: Hoppy floral, saaz are in the house.
Taste: Clean and freash up front, and then it opens up to an earthy, hoppy complexity. The finish is dry, with a strong bite.
Mouthfeel: Light and airy, with fine carbonation.
Drinkability: This just glides right down.

Wow! Now this is a German Bier! Even though I sampled this brew once before, there was no question I wanted to try this one from the source. This almost crystal-yellowish Pils presented with one helluva rocky head, and I was loving it. The aromas of maltiness and residual sweetness were everything I would expect from this style. Paired well with their Sausage Bites appetizer, the Pils cut right through the richness of the sausage, the spiciness of the mustard and the bite of the sauerkraut. A fine, fine beer, and one of my faves.

Nice transparent straw color with a rather thin, white wispy head.
For the nose and on the palate this beer seems more like a Czech pils than a German variety. I have to assume it was intended to be German as all of their beers are in that tradition. Nonetheless, Saaz lovers will appreciate this one. Big hop character, in both nose and on the palate, with some herbal, earthy and "root" flavors. Very dry, exceptionally dry, is that cotton in my mouth?
No, seriously, it's an excellent pils if you're looking for Saaz love, and highly recommended overall to any drinker. Possible transition beer for non-BA's? Just maybe.

Bright golden color with something floating in it. I'll ignore that for now since the color is attractive and the head is a thick pillow of white foam which has lasted for a while. As the beer warms the aroma of Saaz hops and lemons comes out. There is that typical "Lager" smell too.
The taste is crisp and refreshing with a tangyness in the back of the mouth. (Note: Im finding this in all thier beers) As pilsners go I generally like them colder but this beer looses its flaws as it warms. Light mouthfeel makes this a drinkable beer that is light and goes down easy. The finish is what stops me as a bit of yeast is evident.
I was debating if I should review this beer at all since after reading everyones reviews it seems to be well liked. However I continue with my opinion to state perhaps that in my area of distribution (RI) this would be what to expect.

From a bottle this poured a pale golden color. Very clear, well carbonated with fine bubbles of Co2 and topped off with a very attractive creamy head of foam. This certainly looks like a premium beer on the highest order.
The aroma gives off some small hints of sweet grainy goodness.
The taste is less than spectacular, but better than average. ItÂ’s crisp with lemony hops and finishes with a sharp grapefruit rind-like bitterness. Light in malt body, with an emphasis on the hoppy bitter finish. Not bad. A flavorful pilsner beer with a nice bite. Enjoyable.

The beer pours a very hazy pale gold color with a patchy lace head. The aroma is sweet and dry like a wit beer. There seems to be some faint hop scent here. The taste is decent. Again, it has a mild hop bitterness and flavor along with a wheat beer taste. It is quite bitter and dry on the finish. The mouthfeel is average. It is a low bodied beer with less than adequate carbonation. This is a not so good pilsner. It is too hoppy and tasteless.

Color is a light lemony clear yellow, some floaties in there, with a medium stark white head that puffed up quickly and receded justly, lace is in minimal finely stitched spots. Smell has a soft herbal/floral hop aroma, a bit citrusy and fairly spicy. Taste is packed with mild breadish malts in the start and builds quickly to lots of sharply rendered herbal hops, highly sweetning and bittered, touching of citrus, quite zippy and full of dried hops, a good kick of spicyness comes through late with a touch of minerals or vitamins, cinnamon, pepper, pretzel salt, a drying crisp finish with good depth that lasts forever. One hell of a tasty pils. Feel is pretty full with a carbonation that really zips in and out with an overall softness on the palate and a nice drying easy feel in the finish. This was a pretty darn good pilsner, lots of flavor and zip, right up there with one of my favorites, New Glarus Home Town Blonde.

The beer pours a bright, happy pale yellow, topped with a thick, foamy white head. Great clarity. The head dissipates into a thick mist, with good retention, keeping a coating through the entire glass. Lots of rapidly rising carbonation bubbles.
The aroma is very enticing. Smooth, well lagered pils malt, with tons of spicy, peppery Saaz hops. A touch of german noble hop herbal aroma, with a light hint of citrus. Probably spalt. The barest touch of toasted malt as it warms a bit, with a slight soapy cleanliness to the hops.
The flavor starts out with smooth, soft pils malt up front. Well carbonated, with a fluffy, light mouthfeel. Nice and clean, with no off flavors. A bit of lightly toasted malt comes through as it warms up. The malt gives way quickly to a very assertive saaz hoppiness. Peppery and spicy, with a bit of perle or spalt citric herbal flavor, lending a bit of depth to the hoppiness. A pleasant bitter finish with plenty of snappy hops. A long, hoppy aftertaste. Light bodied, yet providing a full, rich mouthfeel.
This is a great pilsner. Very authentic, with a dash of american brewing. The hopping is absolutely fantastic, and quite a surprise. From what I've tried thusfar, DeGroean's makes some damn fine lager beer. This will probably be my summer beer of choice, although it's great for any time of the year.

This beer approaches the draft version. I try to keep it stocked at home. However, do not buy it if it is warm. Recent purchases have been skunked more than once (from Beltway Fine Fine). If you like a crisp refreshing summer beer with an avalanche of hops, try this one. The hop finish really lasts. This beer truly leaves me with a "bitter beer face", and I mean that in the best possible way.

Served in the 12 oz. bottle. The color is copper, with an uneven, frosty white head. The smell is maltish. The taste is a malt sweetness, with a bit of a hop aftertaste. Mouthfeel is smooth. Drinkability-wise, probably wouldn't have another .
Well, I certainly wouldn't call this a pilsener as it's hardly a dry, hoppy beer; tastes more like a bock than a pilsner. Still, on its own it's not a terrible beer, just not a great one.

Here's a good American representation of the Pils style. It's bright golden in color with a fast dissipating white head. The head eventually settles into a thin layer with a cupped rim and releases a fair amount of sticky lace. The aroma is malty and mingled with spicy Saaz hops, along with whiffs of alcohol fumes. The malt body is dry and a bit thin. Mildly herbal and abundantly hopped with spicy, peppery and light citrusy bitterness. It finishes clean, thus tempting you to have another.

Crystal clear golden hue with a bright white foaming head that leaves a nice collar of lace and with each sip the lace clings sporatically around my conical shaped glass. Aroma is a perfect pils with the characteristic Saaz hops spicy and peppery yet very floral at the same time amazing with underlying sweet lemon grass malt tones very nice smell to it. Each sip is buttery sweet with the harsh bitter tones of the hops balancing the flavor, a little over hopped in the bitterness. However it's just a great summertime fourth of July BBQ enjoy it cold, very crisp and refreshing with flavor. I could drink at least a sixer of these comparable to a Prima Pils but toned down and not as balanced as that beauty.

I sampled this beer on tap at Redbones last night. It was hot as hell and needed something a bit "lighter". (That didn't last long as they had McNeils on tap)
Golden yellow in color with a nice fluffy head that lasted a long time. The smell was very sweet with a hint of hops. The taste was more sweet than I expected yet still very refreshing. As I drank more, I counldn't stop thinking about the sweetness. Trying to put that aside, there were some hop notes coming through especially in the aftertaste.
I don't know much about Pilsners but would like to learn. It seemed to me to be a solid beer that I will sample again.

This is nice looking beer. Nice, clean, clear golder yellow. Pours a fluffy white head. This dwindles to sparkling sprite of a head. Leaves the glass clean as I drain it. Smells malty and a little of lemon. Sharp taste. Some hops. A little too thick on the tongue, but nice. Enjoyable beer, rich pils.

Wow, gotta say I'm impressed with this one. I'm a firm believer in the 'gimmee a break, American attempts at German beer styles', but I stayed with this one all night.
Nice, light yellow pour, lace that stayed though-out my glass.
A hoppy pils! With great mouthfeel, which means adequetly carbonated. It's hard to describe: it smelled like a pils and tasted like a pils, but it was the best American version I've had, and it was slightly hoppy.
Check it out, nice session beer for an evening.

One of the 'hopiest' Pilsners that I've tried! The hops hit you both coming and going on the start and finish, making it a rather unusual pilsner, yet still make for a pleasant beer. Despite the hops, it posseses a light and refreshing flavor with the barest hint of cloves and spice. Medium gold in color, with little to no head. The hops are present on the nose as well, along with a slight hint of flowers. Due to the strong presence of the hops, the floral character makes its way onto the palate as well.
