Drunk from the Keg at the Swan in Sutton Vallance. A pleasantly malty sweet beer - quite simple, but refreshing enough on a hot day.
Drunk from the keg again, this time at the Duke of Devonshire in Portsmouth - an interesting pub with nothing but 1950's songs on the juke-box. The beer is a light refreshing caramel with just a little fizz. It's rather like an alcoholic cola without the sweetness. Actually quite pleasant and enjoyable - though obviously not great art. Who cares? If it tastes like fun - go for it!

Appearance: dark brown with a slight reddish tint, good clarity, thin layer of tannish foam that flattens out to a creamy cap, strands of lace
Aroma: bit of roast, coca-cola, iron, rich maltiness, doughy bread
Flavor: mild malt sweetness with an edge of roast and some tanginess, fresh pumpernickel, very mild hop bitterness, finishes semi-sweet with an aftertaste of malt and roast
Mouthfeel: medium body, low carbonation, mild
Other comments: Might not be the best example or most quality example of a Mild, but it's REALLY drinkable. I have quite enjoyed this four-pack of cans. Great session beer. Feels "curative", like comfort food. Something Grandma would prescribe.
