2002: Was an OK standard draught bitter. Does it still exist??....................
When I first visited England in the summer of 1974, this was my staple cask ale. Much better than Watney's, but perhaps not quite as good as cask Bass.

A: On-Tap at Hotel in Southampton, UK.
A: Light copper color with a small head and bit of lacing.
S: Mild aroma of some malt, not much else.
T: Mild malt flavor and a bit of bitterness in the finish.
F: Fairly light body and quite smooth. No real character present.
O: A bit disappointed, just a run of the mill beer. I am off in quest of some real cask ales while in England.

On-tap at The Archers (Whitechapel, London):
Pours light copper with a thin creamy off-white head. Strands of lacing stick.
The smell is mild - some buttered biscuit, slight floral notes if you really take big whiffs.
The taste is mild as well. Watery with some biscuit and mild tea-like notes.
It is pretty smooth in a watered-down tea way.
Nothing special, IMO. Easy-enough to drink, but rather dull/thin.

Average appearance, stale smell. There was something off about this beer, though I suspect it had more to do with the establishment than the brewery. This joint was more for smokers/posers than beer drinkers...a shitty London bar with keg beers only. Should've walked out of this place. This brew was obviously well passed its peak, gross. I hope to find this fresh somewhere, then re-review.
