Tasted by half-pint at a local Wetherspoon pub, The Capitol, in Forest Hill, SE London. This beer is one of the JDW chain's 12 X'mas guest ales. Served by a handpump w/o a sparkler.
A: clear, pale amber hue, the frothy beer head retains its tightness and thickness very well, on top of very low carbonation.
S: the tangerine-citric aroma (like Goldings) and floral scent as of First Gold dominate the theme; a faint trace of peach-blossom and light pale malts lags behind. Pleasantly hoppy.
T: lovely flow of biscuity pale malts plus a juicy orangey+peachy fruity hops... by stealth the bitter-sweet and rich biscuity flavour develops with intensifying hop bitterness, resulting in a dry, hoppy, mildly spicy aftertaste.
M&D: refreshing and clean on the mouthfeel, aided by very fine fizziness... a nice structure is shown b/w hops and malts overall. A delicious, hoppy pale ale (or blond bitter)--a rare treat for the winter season~~
