Inspired by the dark lagers of Mexico that are brewed with a high proportion of corn. Crisp and refreshing, with caramelly malt and biscuity flavours.
A wave of immigration in the 19th century from Germany and Austria bought with it the dark and amber lagers that are synonymous with Mexican brewing today. The 19th century brewers had to adapt to what was available and so used a high proportion of maize, which creates these beers distinct character.

1 litre growler fresh from the brewery.
L: Clear, dark amber colour with two fingers of off-white head that reduces to a thick cap and arcs of lacing.
S: Rich, sweet and malty.
T: Loads of malt. Light carbonation.
F: Medium body, light carbonation, smooth & slick mouthfeel. Would prefer more carbonation.
O: A super refreshing, malty lager. Not getting a lot of corn and it’s under-carbonated but this is a lovely dark lager nonetheless. Rebellion have seriously upped their game of late and this is another interesting and enjoyable offering from their small batch setup. Good stuff.
