Handpump halfpint at The Apollo. Apparently this is the second in a series of 12 nautical-themed one-off real ales done for 2012.
A: Clear copper body, thin (but sticky) tan head. Nice.
S: Very malty, very sweet. Toffee, caramel, toastiness, and some faint citrus. Perhaps a bit too purely sweet, but entirely pleasant.
T: Starts out with sugared plums, toffee, and more straight toffee. This is one seriously candy-sweet beer, but since it's so weak it can't be truly cloying. I kind of like it.
M: Slick, slightly sticky, very lightly carbonated. Suits the beer, I guess, but it's not great.
O: Interesting and tasty, but I'd hate to have more than a half.
