Pours a clear copper, with a thin head that disappears to a ring of bubbles. Mild hoppiness on the nose and tongue, with dark malts more befitting a bitter than an IPA.

1L swing-top bottle fresh from the brewery. 3.4% ABV.
L: Russet colour, perfectly clear, no carbonation and a thin, short-lived head despite a rigorous pour. Has a better head on cask than from the bottle but the bottled version is still a pretty beer.
S: Sweet and malty, albeit very light.
T: Black tea, biscuit and caramel. Semi-sweet up-front becoming bitter. Classic flavours of an English Bitter.
F: Medium body, some slick mouthfeel and a short, dry finish.
O: This is a cask English Bitter, no idea why they call it an IPA (have noticed the new description on the brewery website also refers to it as a Bitter). Low ABV, classic English malt flavour and traditional English leafy bittering hops. Dry and refreshing. A beer for the pub garden.

Cask. Medium amber with a thin head.
Smells of malt and light English hops.
Light flavour representing the aroma. Orchard fruits with a mild bitter finish.
Cask feel.
Taste was enhanced by the pub setting. The oldest Inn in England (supposedly!).

A: Dark amber with a small white head.
S: Fruity, malt aroma.
T: A bland, muddle of flavours - a bitter hope presence, with some caramel and toasted malts.
M: Watery with minimal carbonation.
IPA is definitely a misnomer - this is a bitter, and a fairly dull, flavourless one at that.
