Attractive lighter shade of reddish brown with gold highlights. Nice color but not as dark as the bottle suggests, you can easily see your fingers through it. White cap that quickly departs.
Aroma of dark malt, toffee, surprising for a Winter style I couldn't detect spices but did find a clean scent of new mown hay.
Taste like Scotch Ale, they got that right. Again I don't detect the spices (nutmeg, etc.) that are usually associated with Winter ales but it does have that heavy middle of rich, dark malt. I don't find much in the way of hops either but can't say that's any real loss. Very clean finish and almost no aftertaste. Just simple dark toffee malt and that's about it.
Medium texture bordering on full and enough carbonation to balance.
A highly quaffable sort of ale in the Scottish mold. Simple flavor that holds up well in a clean, competently made brew. The house Guinness fan asked me to buy more.

Great little scotch ale from Yazoo, nutty aftertaste. Wouldn't hesitate to pick up a full six-pack.

Pours a chestnut brown with a one inch head that dissipates without much lacing. Good malty aroma with several layers of malt. Flavor was sweet malt with semi complex flavors and maybe a touch of peat at the end. Finish is fairly dry and pleasant. Not too exciting but a good effort and worth a try

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Chimay goblet. Bottled on 9 November 2015.

Barely clear, dark cherry red.
Smells malty and sweet. Perhaps a smack too sweet. Raw sugar and heavy dates.
Sweet, smooth, and strong. Lightly malty, sugary, fruity. Robust, thick mouthfeel. It's plain, but nice. The flavor could use a little zing, but it's otherwise a competently-executed, solid Scotch ale. Tentatively recommended.

Poured into a pint glass. Clear, dark reddish copper with a fairly thin light tan head. Aromas of cedar, toffee, caramel, and a bit of ash. The taste is rich dry malt. No sweetness. Reminds me of the smells from a burning fireplace, with a hint of dark fruit. No bitterness and a fairly clean, dry finish. Medium-bodied and lightly carbed but not flat. Overall a nice brew but not close to other versions of the style in body or taste.
