Yazoo Brewing Co. "Hop Project"
12 oz. brown glass bottle, no bottled on date or batch indicator
$1.50 @ Trader Joe's #664, Nashville, TN on 5 April 2015
Notes: Cloudy deep brass/amber body beneath a short head of bright white foam. Decent head retention and lacing. Quite spicy/piney/citrusy in the nose over leafy and herbal notes. Pine comes out clearly in the flavor, along with a light touch of mint. Dry, lingering hoppy finish.

From a 12 ounce bottle into a snifter. No bottled on date is legible, but I was able to make out the 82 which helped me to figure out that it's this batch.
Frothy pale white head, shows some real persistence and a ton of scattered lacing as it recedes. The body is cloudy orange with a golden glow at the base. 4.25
Very herbal and tea-like in the hop profile on the nose. There's slight zesty orange or tangerine but it's more subtle than the herbal qualities. A sweet floral aroma is also pronounced but took me longer to identify. 3.5
Herbal, floral and dank hop flavors pierce my tongue. It' an aggressive flavor profile but offers some intrigue. A sweet granola or oatmeal flavor moves in mid-palate and to my tongue is almost more enjoyable than the hops. Throughout there's a hay-like flavor but it becomes more obvious as it lingers with grassiness on the finish. 3.5
The bitterness to this beer is stiff and almost numbing to the mouth. The body is pretty light with medium carbonation, which alone makes for easy-drinking but is overwhelmed by the bitterness. 3.25
There is some potential in these flavors here, but they don't meld necessarily well.
