Many Mexican beer styles today are descendants of old Austrian styles, from when Austria ruled Mexico in the late 19th century. Our Dos Perros is made with German Munich malt, English Pale malt, and Chocolate malt, and hopped with Perle and Saaz hops. To lighten the body, as many Mexican brewers do, we add a small portion of flaked maize. The result is a wonderfully bready malt aroma, balanced with some maize sweetness and a noble hop finish.

Poured deep amber color, the beige head dissipated quickly. Made me think that it was an amber, not a brown.
The aroma was malty and semi sweet with a hint of the hops.
The taste followed, good malty base with the smooth maize appropriate for an ale trying to reflect Mexican style. The hops just peek out for a touch of bite.
The feel is slightly viscous, I’ll guess because of the flaked corn, but it works well with the flavor.

On tap at the Red Door Saloon in Nashville, TN.

This one pours a light reddish brown color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells mainly bready, with maybe a touch of citrus.

This is a solid and straightforward drinkable dark beer – not exactly something like Negra Modelo, kind of a brown ale, but dark lager-ish in vibes. It’s toasty and not too sweet, with a herbal and slightly citrusy finish.

This is light bodied, clean, crisp, and quite drinkable.

There’s a lot to like here – nothing earth-shattering, but it gets the job done.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours deep red with a tiny white head. Smells of fresh fruit with not much else. Tastes of fresh fruit with some nuttiness. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a good beer.

Look:
Pours a translucent shade of tawny brown with a half finger, khaki colored head of foam that dissipates quickly and doesn't lace the glass.

Aroma:
Not much to the nose. Sweet caramel / chocolate malt and some floral, bitter Europeans noble hops. Pleasant enough.

Taste:
Great flavor. I'm getting notes of roasted corn on the cob with gentle notes of bittersweet chocolate and toffee in the background. Rounding out the palate on the finish, some earthy bitter hops poke their head through.

Feel:
Light weight and highly quaffable / sessionable. Medium carbonation. Low viscosity. Some people are calling this thin for the style or "watery", I wouldn't go so far as to call it watery but it is very light - I think that works to the beer's favor; as it is extremely sessionable and thirst quenching.

Overall:
Very pleasant for a Mexican style lager / brown ale hybrid, basically exactly what I was expecting when I read the label at the store. I would repurchase this, it might even become my go to brown ale.

Unknown bottling date; drank 12/2/22 @ the Bowery Vault. Drank straight from the bottle.

Solid brown ale; little roasty, faint hop character, medium mouthfeel.

I'd have another!
