This collaboration with Jose Cuervo is a Brettanomyces Golden Strong Ale aged in 100% Blue Agave Tradicional Resposado Oak Casks. A secondary fermentation with Passion Fruit adds a bright tropical character to complement the smooth Tequila flavors from Jose Cuervo Tequila's Oak Casks.

This one is crazy. I didn't like the "natural flavors" description but it doesn't feel like there's anything strange added. Anyways, pours a deep orange with no residual foam or lacing. Aroma is wild. Sourdough bread, yeast, sour and agave funk, just general weirdness. Flavor gets even more ridiculous. Up front, it's a white grape sort of standard Belgian strong ale flavor with a little bubble gum ester flavors, which rapidly evolves into a sourness accompanied by very strong vegetal tequila notes. The finish is a little malty and sweet, which evolves into an incredibly funky and almost hard cheese like flavor on the back end, which continues to evolve into a lingering soft sourness. Mouthfeel is simple, thin and bubbly.
Not for the faint of heart. Something happened in the barrel aging process and this thing is probably the weirdest beer I've ever drank. It is a Brett ale that wants you to feel bad about yourself. Extremely tasty and I will be buying it again once I wrap my head around the weirdness.

A nearly clear golden color in the pint glass with a small and fleeting white head. The aroma was evident on the pour, with tart fruit, subtle tropical notes, vanilla, oak, and faint agave. The taste was much less tart than expected. Bright fruit followed by the floral Belgian notes, along with pineapple, tangerine, and vanilla. There was a nice barrel presence along with the tequila notes on the back. The Brett seems to be making a statement on the end as well, with phenolic notes. Medium bodied and carbed. Overall, highly recommended.

Hazy burnt amber, but lighter towards the top of the bottle, the head is a bubbly off white and dies quickly.
I'm getting tangy and quite sour mango and carrot with herbal wood via a light body, wet middle but dry finish.

Really, really good, and very unique. Pretty straw-gold body with a touch of orange and a fair amount of haze, with a moderate and soft white head. Tons of passion fruit, agave, citrus, wet grass, and a little funk on the nose. The taste has a little sharp tartness to it but the sweet passion fruit, earthly tequila, and floral notes are the primary takeaways. Feel is medium and well carbonated with a little bite. Very tasty and one that I'll look for again.

Appearance: Pours cloudy and golden/orange with a two finger head that fades rather quickly leaving a few spots
Smell: The funk explodes above the sour passion fruit and blood orange tones; Tequila barrel present in the aromatics, too
Taste: Acetic sourness forward with the passion fruit adding tartness; blood orange flavors, through the middle, with the Tequila barrel adding agave and oak to the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body with low to moderate carbonation; puckery and warm
Overall: A bit unbalanced, at this stage, but the beer has potential for the flavors to coalesce
Thanks, WPZY, for the opportunity

Love the passion fruit, definitely taste the tequila.
Flavors work perfectly together.
This is STRONG though. I actually enjoyed less as I drank more.
I want to let this sit a little longer and try again.

Bottle:
Pours like a hazy IPA - though maybe more fog than haze on a orange golden body. A thin ring of bubbles are all that remain after a chemical-reaction like fizzing and fading.
Nose is lime and orange with a certain spice that could be the tequila barrel. This has a little bit of a mixed drink note to it, sweet tart with a little bite. Maybe a little herbal added to the light honey sweetness in the back.
Taste has a little funk to it after a light sour bite. With warmth this opening becomes a little sprite-like, but with a tangy edge. The funk tamps down the sweetness before mid-taste. A surprising tingle of carbonation adds to a bite of what might be the tequila influence (but it's hard for me to tell for sure). A combination of light herbal bitterness and equally light funk end the taste.
Some interesting notes, but they had just the slightest issue coming together cohesively for me. It's far from a mess - but I wish the beer just had that little extra to make me not waver on how much I enjoyed it.
