This Cream Ale is the latest release from our Pilot Series, from our brewer Jeff Burnett. It's a hybrid style using both ale and lager yeasts, and hopped with traditional European hop varieties Hersbrucker and Saaz, to make a crisp, refreshing beer.

Had this Cream Ale poured from 12-oz. can, no date, gift from friend, into nonic pint.
Looks very nice off the pour, medium gold with clarity and one finger of creamy off-white head, but the head doesn't last or leave much lace. The aroma is hop spice and fruit, which fade into a bit of malt. A typical modern cream ale start, with smooth body and mild apple, but the fruit turns (a bit) tart and the finish is crisp hop bite.

12 oz can from the Wall of Beer in Clemson SC ($1.59).
Pours with an amber body and a rather weak white head.
Very mild aroma with no obvious defects.
Flavor. Wrong hop/malt balance for style (insufficient malts) and to earthy.
Overall : disappointing

This beer doesn't warrant much of a writeup. Normally I like Yazoo, good local brewer, but this beer just has nothing going on. Bitter and skunky with very little texture, body is thin, reminds me of Heineken out of a can with how skunky it is. No real depth of flavor, tastes like mass domestic grains. Swishing in the mouth releases some of the creaminess but still leaves you wanting. Overall very plain and forgettable and there's much better beers in the category of crisp/light/refreshing/mild on taste.

Bright gold color with an inch white head that dissipated. Good beery aroma, heavy on malt. Taste was balanced malt with hops in the back for balanced, maybe a little corn. Reminded me of the 1970's drinking Little Kings out of the bottle. BUT this was much better, very refreshing, straight forward beer, great after a workout or with a sandwich.
