For this draft-only version, we hopped our Hop Project #15 with Ahtanum and Columbus as mash hops, First Gold and Galena at the beginning of boil, Ahtanum and Cascade at the end of boil, and then Galena as the dry hop. It's a bit of a departure from the last three or four Hop Projects - Quinn, our head brewer, developed this recipe and was looking for a more mellow, longer-lasting bitterness. So this one doesn't hit you over the head with bitterness at first, but the fruity, mellow hop flavor gives way to hoppy prickliness in the long aftertaste.

Had this one at the brewery when I attemped to get the tour on a saturday but come to find it was the last slot and was completely full. Maybe next time.

This is all from memory. Poured a bright clear copper with a decent white head.

Smells of juicy grapefruit and pine and everything a beer dubbed hop project should smell like.

It was very very bitter. Awesome. It had a sharp bite to it. Major citrus. Lots of hop flavor. A hophead's go to beer for sure. Not for the weak, hop tender palate.

I wouldn't say the drinkability is really high for this one but it sure was fresh and delicious. Look forward to trying some more hop projects. I wish I could have sampled them all.

Had this on tap at the Yazoo taproom...then took a growler up to Wisconsin to share with some friends around a campfire.

Pours like a good IPA should...nice copper color with a decent head. Smells of citrus, hops, some sweet malt in the background. The taste is very hoppy...citrus notes, grapefruit flavors especially stand out. It's a pretty bitter IPA, but some sweet notes in the background. Maltiness is well balanced with the hops. I asked the bartender what this beer was all about, the Hop Project idea. He said the brewmaster takes different quantities of various hops for each batch, making each one different and unique. #15 is excellent. If you can get a pint, take home a growler, or grab a bottle (they are bottling this, but on the bottles I found the number is not noted), get some. This beer is quite good, and completely worth traveling to the brewery to seek. A very drinkable IPA...true to the over-the-top American style, this one is up there with some of the best.
