The beer pours a light yellow color with a white head. The aroma is very straightforward with a lot of wheat and biscuit malt and not too much else. The flavor is very similar. Other than a lot of wheat and malt notes, I get a hint of citrus and that is about it. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

 

 

 

 

Aroma here has a floral hoppiness to it with a bit of a citrus backing. Pretty subdued, though.

Carbonation here is pretty high. I actually find it to be somewhat of a distraction. For a blonde ale, this is pretty hoppy stuff. Starts floral and finishes with a bit of citrus hops that cut through the finish. Only a slight hint of malt pokes through in the taste here.

Between the abrasive carbonation and tilting of the flavor profile too far in the hoppiness direction, I wouldn't make this a choice for a summer beer.

A benefit offering, I always tend to enjoy these and this one was no exception. Used as a bit of a palate cleanser while doing the dishes last night, this one was enjoyed on 11/01/2010.

Another nice pour here with a light golden body that was more then amply carbonated and yielded a nice big head of white that seemed to take on a life of its own, string web like lacing down the sides of the glass, all the while being reinforced by some nice bubbles from below.

Aroma is light grains, hones of lemon and light citrus peel that seem to come off rather nicely. Very, very light in all aspects though as some nice touches of pears and apples semi to work their way into the picture at times, leaving me very satisfied with a nice light dryness on the palate after a smooth grainy middle. Carbonation is prickly on the tongue and everything about this screams that it needs to be enjoyed on a hot weather day. I will make sure to mark this one down for my next hot weather day for sure.

Overall a very solid and very session able ale that I would have no issues at all with having again. Would make a nice summer offering for sure.

12oz bottle served in a standard pint glass.

L - hazy straw color with a fluffy white head that settled as a layer leaving sticky lacing on the glass.

S - German hops and malts as well as a hint of earthiness.

T - bittering hops upfront with some malty sweetness mixed in before finishing dry and bitter.

F - medium bodied with a crisp bite.

D - I could have a few of these on a summer afternoon/evening.

Bright pale golden color. Very clear color. Thin white lace around the glass. Little to no hop or malt aroma. Small floral presence. Low carbonation, with low malt and low hop presence. Grassy mouthfeel. Slightly dry finish. Small citricy flavor. Very drinkable, good finish, good light summer flavor.

Thanks to pitasoup for sending me this bottle. Poured into a Unibroue tulip. Color is bright lemon yellow with an inch of egg shell white head that dissipates reasonably fast. No noticeable carbonation after the head has dissipated. Smell is of lemon grass, wheat, and noble hops. Flavor is sharp and crisp with a slightly bitter ending. The beer is very refreshing and would be great for a hot summer day. Wheat flavor is present but masked well by the hops. I think a bit more carbonation would help offset the lingering hop acidity.

Fairly clear straw gold with nearly white 2-finger head. Not much retention. Sheer lace covers the glass at the end.

Whiffs of bread from the malt and lemony citrus come at you. Very clean smelling.

Lemon and orange combine up front for a refreshing taste. Light malt body kicks in for a nice backbone for the style. Sweet finish, then a slight sour tart bite.

Body is a little heavier than expected, but that's a plus for me.

Very nice thirst quencher on a hot summer night in Nashville.

So I poured this one expecting it to be a pale wheat ale... Even after looking at it and smelling it, I still thought it was a pale wheat ale. It wasn't until I went to review it that I find out it is an American Blonde Ale... This is my 3rd ABA in the last month or so (Half Acres Gossamer and Southern Star's Bombshell Blonde)...

So... here we go:
This beer looks pale, clear, almost like lemon juice. A pale golden straw color. White head didn't last long nor leave much lace.

Smells a lot like Sam Adam's summer but the citrus note is lemony instead of orange. A dry malt note is in here too. The overall smell is that of liquid dawn being used to wash a cake pan.

Taste has some sweet malts and a grainy quality that is hugely out of place for an ABA (in my mind). The lemony citrus flavor is huge-- almost tart like a Berliner Weisse, but not quite.

This is easy to drink-- if you don't mind the lemony notes. The body is nearing medium, but seems like it needs more carbonation, which makes the body seem thicker than it actually is.

I could drink this beer-- and this was the 2nd bottle of it that I drank. The first one was better to me... Perhaps because I was drinking it assuming it was a pale wheat ale. Once I compared it to ABA, it's score dropped significantly.

Poured into a Yazoo pint glass

A- Nice light golden color with a quarter inch head, some lacing is apparent.

S-light malty aroma with some hops evident.

T-fresh malt with plenty of hops to add bitterness. Some lemon and grapefruit flavors came through. Very balanced and refreshing.

M-medium bodied but very smooth.

D-drank three at a sitting with no problem. A great example of a blond ale.

Bottle into Sam Adams sensory glass.

Pours crystal clear, nice golden color with lots of effervescence and a one-finger white head on top. Settles down to a solid but thin cap fairly quickly, with some nice lacing.

Nose has a pleasantly light sweetness, evoking just a bit of cereal, with a nice overlaying herbal hop note with just a bit of a grassy tinge to it.

Taste is beautifully balanced; very pale malt note lays down a lightly sweet base of cereal with just a bit of graininess, with that grassy, herbal hop note moving in quickly and sticking on the tongue with a nice, dry, grassy finish. Really similar, in my opinion, to a very well done Pils done with an American Ale yeast. Clean, dry, and refreshing.

Mouthfeel is light, crisp, quite dry, and with a nice lingering bitterness. One of the highlights of the beer.

The one thing that really emerges as a trend for Yazoo beers is the fantastic drinkability. They're serious in their pursuit of very drinkable beers, from their legit sub-4% session beers to beauties like this. Exactly what its supposed to be.

A great little Summer time refresher that is both clean and flavorful. For the time being, a portion of the purchase of this beer will benefit the victims of the recent Nashville flooding. Reason enough for me to fill the glass.

The beer is delivered in a standard 16 oz. tumbler. Bright yellow in color the beer has the slightest of a haze. Carbonation is evident streaming up from the bottom of the glass, forming a creamy white head that shows good staying power and mild lacing. Very Lager-like appearance.

Flavors and aromas of either rich Pilsner malt or lightly kilned 2-row barley give a sweetbread/bready flavor along with a mild grainy sweetness. Light esters are restrained but do show light lemon, apple, and appricot notes. Herbal and citrus hops give enough bitterness to command control of the beer in taste and bitterness, but the finish shows a return to malty attributes.

Lightly creamy up front, but the beer's carbonation and fleeting carbonation allows for a crisp and clean mid-palate. Just when I thought the hops would create a dry finish, the malts keep things balanced and smooth.

A nice Blonde Ale that no one should find offensive or off putting.

A - Bright golden orange brown in color. Thin white head that is very foamy. Good retention and nice sheets of lace left behind.

S - Light, crisp spicy notes with an excellent malty breadiness backing it up. Very clean nose. Hints of some banana as well.

T - Very light tastes that mingle together well but nothing that stands out. A little sweet breadiness mixed with a clean spicy bite on the tongue. The sweetness becomes surprisingly strong as the beer warms, but is never overpowering.

M/D - Light mouthfeel and very crisp. Very easy drinking. I'd say Yazoo hit it right on the head for a light, crisp refreshing summer beer. Would be fun to see this one in bottles next summer.

A- Bright orange with a two finger head

S- Malt and spices. Almost orange citrus hints.

T- Sweet malts/ mild spice followed with a tartness and a crisp citrus end

M- Light bodied followed by mild carbonation

D- Fairly high, easy drinking. They offered lime as well, which my wife took-but I preferred without.
