It's pretty easy to describe the hops in this beer. Bittered to about 100+ IBUs with Amarillo from the 2008 harvest, and dosed with 200 lbs of fresh, wet hops from the 2009 harvest. This is an Amarillo bomb!

The pour was very nice. Deep amber color that borded on orange at times with a tremendous clarity to it that I really was not expecting to see at all. Quite surprising I have to admit. Lots of carbonation here as I would expect, but with the clarity it is very visible and a big head of white forms that only gradually settles down. Aroma is ripe with orange and buttery notes that seem to intertwine nearly perfectly and really launch through the air with a sweetness you seldom see in an IPA. Carries over well into the flavor as the bit from the ornage comes in first but mellows almost immediatly and then falls into the bittery, biscuit like sweetness that provides much balance to it. Smooth, medium body really coats the palate and lets the resin from the hops do their business and with the ABV all but absent, you can really go to town with this one.

Had this in Knoxville, TN at a beer dinner that they sponsored. The aroma is what stuck out to me; big pine on the nose! The appearance was your typical copper-orange and the head was two fingers thick. The taste was hard to place as was the aroma. So I asked the gentlemen about those and they stated that there was about 7 different hop varieties used; Amarillo is the dry hop and finishing hop, a personal favorite. The body was a bit filling, but after a night of eating and drinking I wasn't at my best.

A - Golden orange with a creamy off-white head. Leave shick rings of lace on the glass. A little on the hazy side.

S - Big aroma of Amarillo hops in this one. Lots of citrus and tropical fruit aromas. Pineapple is the first thing that comes to mind quickly mixed with some fresh grapefruit and even a hint of lemon juice.

T - Juicy hops up front with lots of fresh fruit flavors. More citrus focused in the taste than it was in the smell. Lots of grapefruit and a little lemon zest. Hints of tropical fruit underneath. They claim 100+ IBU's and I believe it. Light toasted bread malt backing with just a hint of sweetness. Certainly focused on the hops here.

M/D - Medium bodied with a very lively mouth feel. Coats the mouth with a very resinous feel from the hops. Very easy drinking if you like in your face hops.

Picked up a 4 pk of this in Nashville recently.. I've had a couple of previous Hop Projects and they blew me away.. This one is dry hopped with loads of Amarillo hops... Should be delicious...

Pours a much darker than expected hazy deep golden with a persistent head and spot on lacing.. It looks uber hoppy...

Those Amarillo hops come rolling out of the glass and they are smelling delicious... This brew is loaded with hops all the way... Pungent, pungent aromas....

Well, this is just a freaking delicious brew... The hops burst out up front, are balanced by a little malt and then linger with a bitter finish that leaves me wanting to gulp this and the other 3 bottles down.. Its terrific...

Without a doubt, the best Hop Project yet... Uber hoppy and delicious and local to boot! Awesome job, Linus! Keep these coming!
