Brewed as close to Northern German Lager specifications as brewers of Cologne could get, their hybrid Kolsch beer finds its flavors right at home in modern day Nashville. Yazoo embraces its history with this limited edition beer that fits each and every tastebud like a glove.
Bright gold and easily mistaken for pilsner, the streaming bubbles fuel a cottony white froth and plays host to a friendly and floral bouquet. Fresh baking bread and a candied hop presence quickly leads into a sweet and fresh grain flavor of bread, light dough and with wafer-like sweetness.
Its cold fermentation leads to a simple and straight-forward crispness on the middle palate while the ale aspects of the beer allow for a seamless transition from floral aromas to a slightly fruity taste of apple, lemon and light guava as the beer extends across the tongue. A low level of bitterness completes the transition with a slightly minty balance laced with lemongrass and grassy herbs.
Medium-light in body, the beer seems more pilsner-like than the popular beer of Cologne, but its slightly elevated flavors appease to beer lovers of all genres and preferences. The beer finishes crisp, lean and highly refreshing with only a short aftertaste of dough and herb.
