As brewers near and far continue to embrace the funk, the reprieve from the common kettle sour ale comes out of the Yazoo Brewing Company with a oak aged sour ale laced with pomegranate and cranberry, and with a little wilder sense of funk.

The Pomegranate & Cranberry inaugural installment of Embrace the Funk allows for a tangy red berry aroma that laces with red wine, cider, balsa and damp burlap for a citrusy and vinous character that drifts above a racy foam stance and a glowing translucent mauve body. With the scant sweetness of fructose, sourdough and wafer.

As sensations of hard candy dissolve rapidly off of the middle palate, the bracing tartness of dry cider, red wine and citrus all bring bold acidity with a piquant peppery quality. The juiciness of those red berries carry their own tangy and pectin bite while the ale fades into a funky, fresh and fruity finish.

Medium-light on the palate, the beer's winey character keeps thing on the drying track as a bloomy finish of tannic, drying woods, burlap, balsa and sourdough adds a brisk finish and a short, fruity, spicy aftertaste.
