Look: Pours a deep shade of brownish amber, with a half finger, off white head of foam that leaves moderate amounts of lacing on the glass. Head retention is low, not much visible carbonation.
Aroma: There's a distinct brown sugar note to it; as well as some citrus oil - mostly bitter orange peel with just a touch of apricot pomace.
Taste: Basic, but not in a bad way. Upfront some bitter roasted malt, along the lines of slightly burnt toasted whole grain bread and caramel candy. Goes sweet with red apple flavors and more notes of caramel candy midpalate, before ending on moderately spicy flavors of orange peel.
Feel: Low carbonation, medium style body. Smooth and sugary, but with moderately dry finish.
Overall: Decent. Not my favorite amber ale but this is well done. I'd like to see it be a little more carbonated and effervescent. Might not be malty enough for some.
