Harvested hop “cones” fresh out of the field are often referred to as “wet hops”. Not matter what the final form the hops will take, there are several, the hop cones are dried, or cured, so they will not mildew. In our Hop Harvest Ale, we were shipped wet hop cones direct from the fields. These fresh hop flowers were added directly to our brew kettle. For those of you who know your hop varieties, we used “Citra” hops.

Hop Harvest was another of the fall seasonal offerings. The information sheet says that it is wet hopped and has 35 IBUs from Citra hops. The IPA was on hiatus, so this was the beer to get my hop fix.

The beer is copper with a thin beige head. It has pretty decent lacing.

Nice citrus aroma backed by caramel malts. Very fresh!

The bitterness is evident but not over the top. The beer is balanced with lots of semi-sweet malts. They add a bready caramel taste.

The beer pairs well with food. I really thought the brewer nailed this one.

The mouth is medium in carbonation and thickness. It is slightly coating from the hops.

This was my favorite beer of the night.
