"A dry golden ale where full biscuity malt flavours strike tenderly the tongue, followed by a refreshing flow of coriander and oranges, just to be finished off by a lasting manuka/clover honey and hallertauer touch to the troth.
Wort filtered to 16 Plato, 25 IBU bitter hopping, bottle conditioned, best served at 8-10°C"
A “Golden honey dubbel” in a 330 ml brown bottle purchased in Wanaka and consumed a few days later in Timaru NZ.
Pours a hazy brown-amber with a durable white head. Spotty lacing. Sediment coated bottom even after a full pour.
Aroma: Complex fruity and spicy aroma with some alcohol esters, orange peel and off notes. Perfume comes to mind.
Flavor: Rather sweet with clear resemblance to honey. Better than the aroma, with banana, orange and other tropical fruits, and some light spice notes.
Feel: medium-light body; medium, soft carbonation.
O: atypical for style and a bit too sweet other than as a dessert beer, but worth a try..
