2-3 oz. sample served in a pint glass.

Pours a hazy, golden straw hue with a tawny ring of white bubbles.

Aroma is slightly sweet, with a bit of bready and spicy yeast notes hiding as well.

Body is very light, with a mild effervescence, holding a strong, thick grainy wheaten flavor that borders on astringent, but which also gives this beer a distinctive character. Some mild herbal hops show up in the finish, combining with the grain to form a bit of an earthy aftertaste.

Fairly drinkable and decently refreshing, but the grain-like character, though adding a bit of character, could also be toned down some, as it is almost overwhelming.

Popped into the ole HG today before catching a film at the Nickelodeon across the street... it's been severely muggy and hot out, so I felt a wheat was in order.

Well, HG's wheat was served too cold (as usual) and was plunked down with a tiny 2cm spotty head and a bit of haze (from the chill?). Otherwise your basic unfiltered yellow; the head left some lacing as I drank it down (rather quickly I might add.)

Smells of malt, lemon, wheat and some mild citrus hops. Basic.

This is pretty much a classic American wheat... lots of wheat and a touch of lemon-zest add a refreshing quality to this slightly watery beer. Malt and caramel round things off, with a certain rough grainy flavor that contributes some character. Citrus hops smooth things out and tie 'em all up nice and pretty... the carbonation is tingly, but full in the mouth while still being low enough to gulp this beer.

Like almost all of HG's beers, this wheat plays it safe, but this one is actually one of their better beers. It could be the heat, but I drank it down pretty darn fast... Try it on a hot summer day and see if it doesn’t convert you.

The beer arrived on the bar hazy pale golden with a low but persistent head which laced the glass.

The aroma was light hops and a crisp soft wheat presence.

The flavor contained a decent hop bittering which was in perfect balance with the sweetness of the brew. The sweetness is present when the beer first touches the palate, but immediate dissapates to leave a crisp impression with a nice soft wheat mouthfeel.

The finish was just off dry with a lasting pleasant hop bitterness and a medium body.

This beer was the first one I asked for after sampling all their wares. A nice brew and one to try if you visit the brewpub. A very nice American Wheat beer! It would almost make a nice Pale Ale.
