This deep mahogany beer is full bodied with a dense brown head balancing malty sweet chocolate and caramel flavors with the coffee-like character of black malt. Just enough hops are added to highlight the deep rich malt character.

Hissst upon opening and a five finger dark brown head. Liquid that forms is dark mahogeny. Smells flat and earthy with roast grains, minimal chocolate, and some toffee/caramel.
Jazzy flavors with sharp carbonation sting. Dry roasty with ashy notes (I get this when I overuse chocolate malts) that could be from rauch malt. Sour is strong and I wonder if it's more acetic than black patent sour. Hops are earthy and have a mild grassy contribute that is balancing to the maltiness. Aftertaste is drying and mildly of roast. Md-light body and mouthfeel and strong carbonation.

Dark mahogany black, with a thin, dense creamy tan head. It has a light roasty aroma. The flavor is excellent with a big, bold roast, a little chocolate. There's a nice supporting bit of citrusy hops that are noticeable but in the background. The main flaw is that the bitterness is a bit rough in the finish. A stout-like porter.
