Brewed once a year using German malt, this lager is characterized by its bright golden color rich maltiness and assertive hoppiness derived from Czech Saaz hops. A Bohemian style delight!

16 oz pour on tap at the brewpub
reviewed live several months ago, but just stumbled across the unposed rating so posting now

Appearance is straw yellow with a small white head. Lots of lacing. Aroma is floral, some sweetness and spicy hops. Taste is floral, spicy hops, balancing malt backbone. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, perhaps abut fuller than many in the style but it does clock in on the higher ABV spectrum at 6.2%. Drinkability is great. This is an excellent example of what can often be a mundane style. Very well done.

Served up in a sampler 2-3 oz. (not quite sure which) mug.

Bright yellow appearance with a slight white head, leaving behind fairly decent lacing on the glass.

Aroma is slightly sweet, with floral, herbal hops coming through in the nose.

Light in body; tastes of sweet grains up front, with a strong middling hop bitterness, a bit of biscuity grain going down and finishing long, mostly bitter but slightly sweet.

A highly refreshing, drinkable pilsner, but with a slightly elevated 6% ABV that could undermine that drinkability.

Appearance: Pours a light, pale golden-hued body with a thin white head.

Smell: Light floral, grassy aroma.

Taste: Atypical for a pilsner: Lightly sweet malt teamed with spicy, floral hops and a crisp, clean finish.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Mild carbonation.

Drinkability: Aiken Brewing's Czech Pilsner - a beer I've been achin' to try (and review) for quite some time.
