I was in Portland for work and had some spare time, so after a quick check of Beerfly, I found a place close to my hotel.
The interior of BJ's is bright and cheerful. There are high ceilings, bright colors, some neat posters, and exposed steel beams. The brewery equipment is also on display. There is slightly elevated level which adds some visual interest.
There is a smallish bar by the front door that seats about 10. Frankly, it looks like where you would sit and wait for your take out. There is plenty of other seating at the light oak tables.
They have decent service. My server was quick and could explain the beer specials. Decent food with slighlty above average fish tacos.
They had about 8 house beers and three seasonal offerings (IPA, Oatmeal Stout and a Winter Warmer).
I had two beers. A so-so Kolsch and a pretty tasty Oatmeal Stout.
BJ's seems more of a casual eatery than a classic brewpub. Still worth a stop if your in the area, but not a destination venue.
