12 oz. Bottle
Pours a nice yellow/orangey color, nice carbonation, with a pretty nice small off-white head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, citrus. The taste is hoppy, malty, yeasty, citrusy. Medium body, nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, a pretty tasty brew.

I picked this one up in a liquor store in Estes Park. No date or ABV noted on the bottle.
I got a finger of head out of this one. Good retention. The body is an orange/copper color. Light lace.
The nose is very muted so I hope its not past date. Orange, grapefruit and a little pine are what I do get, along with lightly caramelized sugar.
The taste indicates that it's still ok, the nose must just be delicate. It starts off with a sweet, sugary orange flavor. This tapers into a breadiness with a grapefruit and pine ending.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied. It doesn't coat the mouth and the carbonation doesn't make a big deal of itself. Very dry finish.

On tap at the brewery at Estes Park, CO. Pours hazy amber with a long lasting, fluffy white head. Aroma is of orange fruit, caramel malt and citrusy hops. Body is medium and crisp. Citrusy hops, caramel malt and ripe fruit perfectly balanced on the palate. Long dry finish. Very nice PA.

The Shinining is labeled as a pale ale but looks and tastes much more like a red ale or and irish red. The beer pours red brown with almost no head and only medium carbonation.
The aroma is a mix of piney and citrus hops with a strong caramel malt backbone.
The beer tastes sweet and caramely with a sticky mouth feel and a bitter but not dry finish.
This was not a fantastic beer, and unless you are drinking at the Stanley hotel upon which the book is based, I would not go out of my way to get it.
