Can from the Packie
Pours a cloudy deep amber color with a decent sized off white head that shows moderate retention. caramel and dark sugar with bits of dark fruit and a touch of warming alcohol. Decent sipper.

Palate Contaminants: none
Color is a nice dark orange. It's opaque, yet it scatters light pleasantly, giving it a nice glow. Unfortunately, it has a low ceiling because there's virtually no head or lacing.
Smell is super heavy on the tropical fruit. Lots of pineapple, the papaya under that. Some moss, too.
The same fruits are up front in the taste, but that's too quickly overtaken by earthy flavors. Moss and mulch. The moderate bitterness doesn't blend with those tastes particularly well. The brewery labels it a barleywine, but the malt it far lighter than I usually see, and the flavors seem alien for the type.
Medium-heavy weight. Moderately bitter mulch in the aftertaste, but I don't use that word pejoratively. The aftertaste is sweeter than the taste, too. Not a lot of carbonation, but it is well integrated.
