Picked up in a corner market in downtown Tbilisi. Green helf liter bottle with a short neck and gold, blue and white label featuring a bust of (presumably) a Duke of Bavaria. The label claims to conform to the purity law. Best before 8/23/07, I opened it on 4/28/07
Slightly cloudy orangish-gold under a one finger head that lasts quite a long time but can't muster any lace. Very mild sweetish nose with a hint of coffee. Light and quite prickly mouth. Sweet raspberry malt followed by a quite acrid espresso hops bitter, which fades too quickly, leaving a clean aftertaste. Ultimately thin and uninspired, no doubt the Dukes of Bavaria drank better.
