This is a beer made with hibiscus.
Beer rearing to go when uncapped. Pours a large head with small bubbles that dissipate relatively quickly. Deep chestnut brown color, looks like a quad.
Nose has a blend of earthiness and spiciness, like ground black pepper. When tasting I first notice the watery mouthfeel. The taste is a bit disappointingly bland. There is some light sweetness in the taste. Only in the finish do I get any spiciness, maybe allspice or black pepper.
I'm not reminded of hibiscus tea. The beer's fine, but doesn't live up to the expectations from its appearance. I appreciate the light hand on the hibiscus, but the taste just isn't there.

Good resolute amber color, light beige foam, compact, quite persistent.
Lightly roasted malt, bitter roots (probably the "flowers of the islands" of the name), hazelnut and vanilla. Touches of chestnut honey.
The taste is on the faint roasted malt again, with hazelnut. Then again the bitter roots, even if a little less pungent, something like light rhubarb.
Quite watery. Scarce body, quickly disappearing.
In the aftertaste bitter again, and roasted, the all very faint, anyway. Maybe some cinder in the aftertaste?
