I stopped in en route to Vail, and had to try this chile beer (spelled chili on the menu). This starts off coppery colored with gold highlights. There was only a thin head.
It smells of fresh chiles (fruity and flowery) but no hops.
It's a medium bodied beer that uses chiles as hops. Or at least I couldn't detect any hops. The chile flavor isn't strong or overpowering, and isn't hot at all. It's smooth and enjoyable. But I don't think I could do two of them!

A: A golden pilsener with good carbonation and ample head.
S: There's only a light hint of the chiles. This, combined with a crisp floral aroma, makes for a bouquet that is both sweet and spicy.
T: The chile flavors are subdued overall, but their presence is clear in this brew's juiciness. The aftertaste has more of a bite, a sure sign that the dry-'hopping' with serrano chiles wasn't for naught.
M: Medium-bodied, with a juicy and tickling texture.
D: Chile beers are always novel, but usually undrinakable. This one is both novel (good balance beteween juicy peppers and hotter chiles) and very refreshing. Certainly worth a second pint.
A respectable offering in what too often is a gimmicky style. Kudos to the folks at the Dam.

This comes in a clear bottle which I always stay away from as brew tends to go skunky in this type of container (Corona et al). However since they actually dump a Jalapeno into the bottle I guess they can be forgiven since half the fun is seeing that pickled pepper.
The beer itself was a pale lager colour; straw. I like spice which is why my girlfriend brought this to me from Colorado and it smelled nice and spicy. I got a kick out of drinking this as it was like drinking hot sauce. I don't think that I would drink this often in the end of the day. It would definitely work well with food however. Overall not a bad experience but more a novelty than anything to my taste. If however you are looking for a spicy beer this is probably a good one to go with.

The beer pours a gold color with a 1/4" white head that fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a dry pale malt scent along with a mild chili pepper aroma; very nice. The taste is good. It has a strong chili pepper flavor laid over a base of pale and carapils malts. It's quite hot, but also quite delicious. It goes down smooth and warm with a dry finish. The mouthfeel is decent. It is a low/medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a pretty good brew. It's hotter than some chili beers, but not to hot to enjoy; a good drinker.
