Tried 6 Feb 2009 at the pub.

Clear brownish red color. Small light brown head. Smells nicely of toasty malt, toffee. Starts moderately sweet with a nice bit of raisin and rum flavor. Caramel and slightly syrupy through the middle. Alcohol noticeable in the sweet finish. Medium body.

A nicely done bock, would definitely get this again.

One of the first signs that Spring has come to the High Country (at least on the calendar) is the release of the DAM brewery's delicious bock. It's a cocoa colored brew, fairly dark for a bock, with a small white head
and low carbonation. The bouquet is heavy on the malts and the flavor has a fruity, syrupy sweetness that is matched with a caramel richness across the palate.

This is a smooth and heavy brew with an intentionally low drinkability. At the brewpub, it pairs well with their hot ham and gruyere sandwich, and I can imagine that it would work well with other salty meals, though
pork seems an appropriate fit.

To boot, I can't get enough of this brew's name.

Overall, this is another solid seasonal from the DAM. Lately, I've come to think that their rotating releases are far better than their flagship brews. Hopefully they've brewed enough of this year's bock to keep it on tap well into the summer!

The beer pours a dark amber/brown color with a 1/2" offwhite head that fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a dry, yet malty scent that boasts of pale and crystal malts along with some light hop notes in the background. The taste is good as well. It has a dry malty flavor that goes down easy and finishes earthy with a nice roasted malt taste. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium/full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a good tasting beer. It's solid in all aspects and is true to style; a good drinker.
